An awful lot of hippies get together on a pig farm in Bethel, NY in the summer of 1969 to hear Sha Na Na and some other bands. I LOVED this movie, which came out not long ago in a 2-disc "director's cut". Not what I expected at all, which was a concert film. It is that, but spends at least as much time (often in split-screen) showing the crowd having fun. Directed by Michael Wadleigh and edited by, amongst others, Martin Scorsese. I liked The Who the best, but even the much-loathed (by me) Crosby, Stills & Nash sounded good. The sequence regarding the Port-O-San cleaner is a highlight, as are the interviews with an awful lot of adults who appreciate the kids and what they're doing. The big ol' boxed set edition includes a ton of extra materials and a third DVD with a couple of hours worth of band footage, including CCR's set. |

Everyone should see the director's cut. Four hours long. You'll feel like you lived Woodstock after viewing it. Crosby, Stills, Nash, were great. Santana is young. Sly and the Family Stone jam it. |
