Well, to bring this thread up to date, here's what we watched the past three years...

2012-13
Zorro’s Fighting Legion
The Green Hornet
Captain Midnight

2013-14
Drums of Fu Manchu
The Lost City
Gang Busters

2014-15
Batman
Manhunt of Mystery Island
Buck Rogers

At our FNF meeting this week, last of the season, we showed the coming attraction for the first serial of our 30th season, kicking off in a few weeks: CAPTAIN AMERICA. It was well received.

A Columbia and Universal will be designated later.

Speaking of coming attractions...

This popped up out of nowhere, 56 min. of serial trailers in high quality. Note that the poster for the wrong "The Oregon Trail" is shown on the DVD cover. Here's what's on the Alpha disc, all in excellent quality, except for the typical Universal ancient stock footage in the cowboy serials:

The Oregon Trail, Riders of Death Valley, Scouts to the Rescue, The Phantom Creeps, Junior G-Men of the Air, Mystery of the River Boat, Jungle Queen, The Master Key, The Royal Mounted Rides Again (Realart reissue trailer), The Lost City of the Jungle, The Mysterious Mr. M, Winners of the West, Sky Raiders, Sea Raiders, Don Winslow of the Navy, Gang Busters, Adventures of the Flying Cadets, The Great Alaskan Mystery, Raiders of Ghost City, The Miracle Rider, The Green Archer, Jungle Menace.

You also get the first episode of SOS Coast Guard. All for about 6 bucks.

Probably 'accidentally on purpose' in order to get the Wayne name on the cover.

This is Alpha you're talking about, Sarge. You're giving them too much credit.

I never saw the trailer for JUNGLE MENACE, I'm sure the trailer is better than the serial. Many of Universal's trailers are better than Republic's. MYSTERIOUS DR. SATAN has a dumb trailer, but DON WINSLOW OF THE NAVY has one of the best, so does THE OREGON TRAIL and THE GREAT ALASKAN MYSTERY.

Time to decide what our next FNF serial will be (Cap'n America is goin' over like gangbusters, which means that Gang Busters went over like Cap'n' America, now that I think of it).

I'm leanin' towards The Green Hornet Strikes Again. If not, then Holt of the Secret Service. Gotta be a Columbia or Universal.

Holt of the Secret Service is a favourite around the Batcave. Jack Holt has a real presence about him.

I have the Restored Serial's version of THE SPIDER'S WEB and it is pretty decent copy. I would upgrade if a release in the caliber of THE INVISIBLE MONSTER Blu-Ray became available, but for now I'm happy.

HOLT OF THE SECRET SERVICE is a favourite around the Batcave. The FNF gang should really enjoy that one.

We're finishing off Holt of the Secret Service this week. Next up... Hmmmm. Tough cherce. None of the Blu-ray offerings appeal to me for FNF except Daredevils, and we've seen that one only 11 years ago. I'm thinkin' Radio Patrol, The Green Hornet Strikes Again, or The Phantom.
