Ward, I'm worried about the DVD Beaver.

Sorry, sorry. I couldn't resist.

I'm looking for a review that compares these new releases to the 2001 release, and explains which one is closest to the theatrical release. Is there anything like that?

According to the DVD Savant review the Blu-Ray version at least looked very much like some of the original cels which have survived.

The Snow White packaging announces at least three new Disney Classics in 2010 on Blu-ray and remastered DVD, beginning with Dumbo in February, followed by Beauty & the Beast and Fantasia/Fantasia 2000, all great favorites of mine.

I'm drooling over the Dumbo. My favorite of all the Disney animation films. By the way, all of you who are buying these Blu-Rays should be aware that Disney is offering $10 coupons toward an upgrade for all those who own earlier editions of these new Platinum Edition movies. That extends all the way back to VHS copies. The details are here: http://disney.go.com/disneymovierewards/?cmp=dmov_dmr_emc_swupgrade

For that matter, are the extras on the new DVD version much different than the 2001 version? If not, I'll probably stick with the 2001.
