Well, I don't need to tell anybody who ever lived in NE Ohio this, but there's an uninterrupted line from 1963 to 2007 with a late-night TV show featuring old movies and wacky comedy.

GHOULARDI (Ernie Anderson) began it with Shock Theatre in '63 through '66; he was followed by THE HOOLIHAN AND BIG CHUCK SHOW through '79 and then 28 years of THE BIG CHUCK AND LIL' JOHN SHOW.

Not a one of from NE Ohio didn't grow up on this stuff, if you call this growing up. I just finished Chuck's autobiography, and found some of his skits on YouTube.

Here are a couple; the first is a classic, with Hoolihan as the announcer and Big Chuck as the engineer.

Too bad I can't watch the clip on my phone, but i've seen a bunch of them over the last year. the hosts did many skits of novelty records, and many of those were Ray Stevens' silly songs.

The hosts always held charity basketball, softball and football games, with the cash going to various children's groups.

It certainly was a great time to grow up in NE Ohio.

In 1989 I went to Brooklyn for a friend's wedding (he grew up with me in Parma). The day after the wedding I was helping load his wife's furniture into a U-Haul. We were about to move a dresser when his new father in law told us it would be easier to carry the dresser with the drawers taken out. My friend and I just looked at each other and ala the certain ethnic movers, put the drawers on top of the dresser and carried it out. The new father in law looked at us and called a pair of fucking idiots. We've been laughing about it for 20 years now.

Last year, my friend went to a Big Chuck book signing and told him that story. He got a big laugh from Big Chuck.

Good story.

I loved "The Certain Ethnic Person" skits, they were usually good for a laugh.
