The Prisoner is serious; the Avengers is fun. Do I like one more than the other. Of course not.
The Prisoner is serious in nature, but there's some very subtle wit going on.

I saw episodes 3 thru 5 this weekend. Jolly good!
Of course. That's the satirical part.

Also, despite all the over-the-top situations and sometimes silly plots, there is a more than a hint of seriousness in "The Avengers".

Haven't seen the Prisoner for a while, but would disagree that all the episodes are the same. Each show brings something different to the table and there is a subtle growing shift in focus over time in the war between the Village and the Prisoner.

I saw episode 6 last night, and I'm still groovin' on this show. After The General, I was checkin' out the end credits, and I see a familiar name, a man who played 2 different characters... Ian Fleming. It couldn't be, but I'm bettin' that it was.

All bets are off. After going to IMDb, I see that the actor Ian Fleming, is a different person than the writer Ian Fleming.

While at IMDb, I see that Patrick McGoohan played Number 6 on a 2000 episode of The Simpsons. I just wasn't surprised when I read that!

The DVD cases each have a sentence or two on the “episode order debate”. The order on the discs is not that of the original broadcasts. Which suggests that if there is a shift in focus, it’s rather subtle and open to interpretation. I'm sure the ambiguity appeals to a lot of fans.

This week’s Savant column has a review by Gary Teetzel of the Blu-Ray set.

McGoohan also appeared as a guest murderer on a couple of Columbos. One in particular, where he played a retired secret agent, brought back memories of the Prisoner.

The Simpson's episode sounds interesting. Missed that one.

The one with Alexis Kanner singing Dem Bones is a goodie!
