I just recently ran across a 2005 DVD from the Danish Film Institute featuring the legendary actress Asta Neilsen. Here's a particularly riveting scene from Afgrunden (1910):

Asta Neilsen

The set is still available from the Edition Filmmuseum (PAL, Region 0).

Are you suggesting, Sir, that we did not invent sex in 1967?

Absolutely. It was invented one hundred years ago. Along with the lap dance.

Love the way the guy just stands there and endures it. That would not be me.

Set looks interesting. Does Region 0 mean it plays in all players?

She reminded me of Baloo the bear.

Region 0 is region-free. In North America the default output system is NTSC; some DVD players, however (my Oppo, for instance), will convert PAL disc content to match an NTSC television.

This is probably imprecise. I'm sure JazzGuy or another technically savvy balconeer can explain it so it actually makes sense.

By the way, I don't have a copy of the Asta Neilsen set YET, so I can't say what she may have to offer when she's NOT gyrating.

Curious about the context. It's evidently a theater stage, and there's a cop standing motionless in the wings -- evidently deciding whether to close the show down.
Recalls an old joke where a young woman decides to take a swim in a secluded lake. Just as she finishes stripping, the local constable steps into view and says swimming is prohibited.
"Why didn't you tell me before I got undressed?"
"Well, there's no law against undressing, Ma'am."
