Seems like most everybody has something better to do than insult people who are insulting people who are insulting people who are insulting Grood. You could be watching rotten Hammer noirs, for one thing. Sheesh.

I myself have been on a bit of an epic kick lately. And thanks to HUGO and THE ARTIST, have a renewed interest in silent films. As pointed out on the silent board I just watched RICHARD III and will be watching BIRTH OF A NATION in a few weeks.

We won't shoot you, mort. And I for one am glad this thing is coming out, though it is 11 years late! It's one of the best Republics, and I say that as one who has never seen a decent print. I will spring for at least this one Grood product, just as I sprang for the slightly disappointing Daredevils of the West (not that there was anything wrong with the quality of the release, just that the serial itself wasn't the masterpiece I had hoped for...).

I too am really looking forward to the Squadron's Fu Manchu. I am going to wait to order until it's ready to ship. I just did this last week with Blake of Scotland Yard and last year with Daredevils of the West. This way I only wait five or so business days for my order and not pre-order and maybe wait months if it gets pushed back.

Creepygirl,
That was a wise decision on your part to wait until Grood starts shipping his product. Just ask some of the folks who post here about "The Masked Rider".

I should get one of the first ones. I pledged 10 years ago, or so. Happy to see what I'd written off as a bad investment come to fruition.

Please do. I gave up on this one about eight years ago, but I'd be glad to be proved wrong.

I went back on the Squadron board and looked up the announcement that Grood wrote concerning the release of a restored DRUMS OF FU MANCHU. The first post was on Jan. 27, 2010. Then over the 2 1/2 years there are 17 pages of posts but no disc set yet.

My question is did Grood announce this project even earlier and take pledges?

Two and a half years is long to wait but eight years is crazy.

By the way, in that original announcement post the target date for release is Oct. 2010! :o

I think I originally pledged somewhere around 2002, but the project was sorta tabled and then resurrected when another print was located. My original pledge was somewhere in the $20 - $25 range. I don't remember exactly now, but Grood is giving the serial to the original pledgers for the original price.

Not at all unusual for Grood. He took people's money for THE MASKED RIDER in September, 2003. It is now April, 2012 and the whole thing still isn't released. Nor does it seem likely to be.
