Gravy is a clean old gentleman.

It was Grood's long, dull rants that turned me off. I quit the Squadron one day, and the next day he banned me. I thought that was kinda low, and still do.

Haven't visited the serial squadron in a long time but the last I saw it is a rather dreary place. Grood really ruined a fine message board fortunately we have the balcony.

I got a copy of the Squadron's Drums of Fu Manchu, courtesy of one of my favorite Balconeers. Thank you, one of my favorite Balconeers.

Looking forward to watching it.

No, decided it would kick off our 29th season of FNF in September.

Good plan! I'll be interested to hear how it goes over, and of course about print & transfer.

Forgot to mention that it was nice of a fellow Blaconeer to purchase an additional copy for you. We all know you wouldn't take a pirated copy of someone's work.

Right?

Yes we watched it and I was surprised - the FNF crowd grew tired of it after a few weeks. I mean, we finished it and all, but midway through they felt it jumped the shark. The print was an improvement over the VCI release, though.

As for your last post, Bats, I've been quite honest and open about it: I have always encouraged people to copy and share his work. He's a liar and a thief and if anyone pirates his work and sends it to me, I'll be happy to send it out post-paid to anyone who wants a copy, gratis.

Well, it had to happen someday. Gravy & I actually agree on something.

I found the first few chapters of Fu to be excitingly different: moody sets, dark lighting & a real sense of foreboding. Unfortunately, at some point all of this was jettisoned & the chapters took on all of the trappings of a typical Republic serial: sunny exteriors, long car chases & fights which went on way too long to hold my interest.

Yawwwwn....

I agree completely. I had seen it originally some years back (a vhs tape) and had a favorable memory of it. I watched it again earlier this year and it devolved into the typical Republic, as Mort states.

Off topic, but I finished Oregon Trail recently, and enjoyed seeing those same stock stunts that seem to show up in every Universal Western serial. I'm currently subjecting myself to Shadow of Chinatown, which isn't as terrible as I thought it would be. It's priceless seeing Lugosi in one chapter disguised in a workman's uniform.

Interestingly, I didn't realize that Grood was now releasing Republic serials that are under copyright. I'd love to know how he justifies this based on his previous remarks.
