New releases from WB, just in time for Halloween, a fearsome foursome of cult schlock classics.

The Cyclops (1957) has Lon Chaney, Jr., and a giant monster that looks a lot like the guy in War of the Colossal Beast. It's from Bert I. Gordon.

The Hypnotic Eye (1960) has Merry Anders and Allison Hayes, so it doesn't matter what it's about.

The Disembodied (1957) has Miss Hayes again and sexy voodoo dancing. Oh, yeah.

Macabre (1958) is an early William Castle shocker and typical gimmick; all members of the audience were insured for one thousand bucks for death by fright. No, really.

Wow. These titles haven't shipped yet, and they were supposed to ship on Oct. 12. I called and spoke with Julia, a charming WB rep. She checked for me, and said, and I pretty much quote, "You were actually one of the very first people on our list to order them. Demand was much, much higher than we anticipated and we're way behind on getting these out. Hopefully, we'll ship them Wednesday or Thursday."

I told her - nicely - that somebody at WB should've recognized that four rare, cult horror titles (never even on VHS) released just before Halloween were going to be VERY popular. She agreed. She gave me a little present for being so nice, too.

There's a 30% off sale going on at the Archive site for the horror titles. I think it runs all month. If it isn't obvious and someone needs the proper link, let me know.

I think the Cyclops was released back in the late 80's or early 90's in a series of films hosted by Elvira. however true to horror host form she intros the films then midway through she appears again it was annoying. but it's bow on DVD is exciting none the less
