Thanks, Mr P. Just read your post and have made inquiries with my DVD store about ordering both Under Full Sail (which I didn't know about) and the Douglas Fairbanks boxed set (which I had bee considering).

I think, besides those two titles, I have pretty much everything Flicker Alley is offering. I will have to check their site to confirm.

I didn't realize Lobster Films sold stuff directly, I will have to check their site, too.

I picked up the "Under Full Sail" DVD a few weeks ago and watched "The Yankee Clipper" this weekend.

A fun film basically, and apart from Hoppy, it features the ten-year old Junior Coughlan of Captain Marvel fame. Some miniature shots, but also many genuinely impressive full-rigged sailing shots.

The interesting thing is that, despite all the production values, it appears to have been a tremendous flop for DeMille Pictures, and contributed to C.B. eventually running for cover to MGM. No accounting for taste, but I would guess the script was a little too hackneyed even for 1927.

A number of sailing-related shorts are included on the disc (plus an excerpt from Down to the Sea in Ships, which I think Kino had out), but nothing too notable.

I can't say this was my favorite disc ever, but it's worth a rental if you're of a mind for some seafaring adventure or interested in Mr. DeMille, and definitely a purchase if you care to support Mr. Shepard, as I do. Good prints.

[And here's a link to RR's fun comment about Grace falling for Bill in that picture]:
