A wonderful DVD, reviewed by Balcony fave Dave Kehr: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/30/movies/homevideo/30kehr.html?_r=1 |

I'm excited about this release and Kehr's review is spot on. The reasons he calls the Crab picture lousy are exactly why I love it, and Not Of is a damn good movie by any standard. War of the Satellites may warrant another look, but as I recall, Corman's acting is the most interesting thing about it. Hell, I'll buy the set just for the trailers. |

The trailers are wonderful, and - watched chronologically - actually sort of tell a story. "Crab" is not a bad movie, it's just goofy as hell. And "Not of this Earth", while undeniably cheap, shows what you can do with a good script. Watched the first 15 minutes of "Satellites" and liked it so much I stopped and scheduled for FNF instead. "Crab" and "Earth" are both widescreen anamorphic and look great. Bonuses include the material tacked on to the beginning of both films for TV. |

Cool! At last the guy gets a little respect! About Crab, my take is that if you actually pay attention to what the crabs say, it's pretty smart writing. I wouldn't call it goofy, more like weird. Of course it's been about 30 years since I last saw the thing, so maybe I'm wrong, but anyway it'll be fun to get reacquainted. |

Looking forward to getting this. I saw Beverl Garland a few years ago at the Williamsburg Film Festival, about a year or so before she passed away, and she was great. |

Thanks to God and the movies, she still is great. You should know that Gravy once visited the motel she owned: I think there's a post about it around here somewhere -- if not, he can fill you in. |

I ordered it today. Great to get a release I actually want. Most movies I buy I've loved all my life, so the kids will see them. This one's for me. |

I was at Beverly Garlands Hotel in Burbank to a big movie star autograph session. It's an old Holiday Inn and that's where I got to meet, take and get photos of all the MASH stars (except Alda), Timmy and his TV mother June Lockhart, Lumpy and Eddie Haskel of Beaver fame, Linda Blair, Johnny Whitticker, Dorthy DeBorba of Little Rascal fame, Paul Dooley, Barbara Eden, and loads more . . . BUT the highlight was my son and I meeting and getting photos with Bruce Bennett!!! |

Very pleasing little dvd release. I'm so glad to have finally caught up with "Not of this Earth." I think it has probably been the only American 1950s sci-fi film that has managed to elude me all these decades. Came close to buying a bootleg several times, but I'm glad I held off. The film is minor, but quite satisfying on many levels. Loved Garland and Birch. "Crab Monsters" is generally fun, and I've always liked it, although I think it could have been buoyed had the protagonists been a bit less blah. "Satellites" is tolerable (at best) time-killer, with Susan Cabot looking quite lovely. Anyway, I'm very happy with this dvd-set. |

Mr. Panzer, I would love to share some of the photos but I can't scan and get photo onto my computer anymore. Don't know what's wrong. |
