FANG the panther? And why is everybody calling what's obviously a LEOPARD a PANTHER, anyway?
According to the ever reliable Wikipedia. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_panther) Black panthers are leopards.

I remember when Marvel comics tried distancing itself from the political Black Panther movement by renaming their African superhero the Black Leopard. That lasted about all of one issue.

Chapter 10 -- the title should be "Tim Gets His Own Elephant." That Tim Tyler's really did have some luck.
Tim has luck in every chapter -- the title doesn't say good luck.
I wish they hadn't gone back to the gorilla place.

My guess is, they had some gorilla place footage left over, and money was short.

What about that bit where they're captured by natives who say they're going to take Tim and his pals to their "white king"? The good guys then escape almost immediately. What was the point of that? It's the next-to-last chapter, and it's like they're trying to start another serial.

Yes, I was looking for the "White King" to add another twist to the serial and was disappointed when they escaped right away too. The "White King" may yet come into play as more than a detergent and that incident was simply to remind folks, but they's gonna hafta hurry!

I wonder how old Tim was when his "father taught him to drive the Jungle Cruiser"? I thought he was sent away at a pretty young age and he's only a whippersnapper even now.

Highlight exchange from Chapter 8, "The Spider Caught!"

Non-witch doctor: "I'm not a witch doctor!"

Spider Webb: "You're a witch doctor from now on!"

The "White King" is certainly a bit of a mystery.

Maybe he wandered in from another serial.

It was a satisfying, if not spectacular ending for TIM TYLER'S LUCK. Not a very imaginative death for Spider, but at least he snarled to the end. Though I do wonder, considering he possessed a fortune in diamonds all along, why he just didn't retire to Costa Rica, like Robert Vesco, instead of hiding out in a swamp in Africa.
If anyone has the VCI version of TIM, check the interview with Frankie Thomas, made when he was 85. He died a year later, but seems in fine health here. Most of his stories are about working in radio, very little info about TIM; but then, it was a job he had for a few weeks almost 70 years earlier, so I guess we couldn't expect too much. (Odd fact--both of his parents lived to be 100 years old.)

P.S. What happened to Ju Ju?

Ju Ju had a movie theater candy favorite named after him? Posted Image

And, I guess, the White King, went on to have a detergent named after him, but nothing more. I always wondered where they got that name anyway!

It looks like you finished with TIM TYLER'S LUCK, so are you going to start a new serial? May I suggest it should be DAREDEVILS OF THE RED CIRCLE in memory of our good friend, 39 0 13?

Trevor is a great and honest guy, but I think I've said about a dozen times that I'm only going to buy official releases from now on.
