Detective Christopher Plummer and his partner investigate the death of Karen Black, a heroin-hooked hooker (I loved typing that) who fell or was pushed out of a 20th floor window; through flashbacks, we discover that this hooker truly had a heart of gold, but had gotten mixed up in a ring of devil worshipers while trying to protect one of her hooker friends who didn't have a heart of gold. Miss Black wrote and sang two songs in the film. Uhhh... what else do you want to know? Not a terrible movie (no matter what Mr. Panzer says) but about 25 km from being a good one. Filmed in Quebec by a Canadian TV director, which is most of the problem right there. VERY impressive DVD, however, from Scorpion Releasing Company, anamorphic widescreen from original materials, commentary by Karen (she says that was a body double used whenever her ass is in view, which is a lot, but I'm not sure I believe her, since her boobies are also on ample display, although for the most part the FNF audience just kept commenting on her slightly-googly eyes). Very slow-moving and lacking any sort of creative inspiration, but we knew what we were getting into (a 1970s cult movie with Karen Black) going in. The climax, with the devil worshipers, is played out to the sound of Gregorian monks chanting, only with the chant speeded up to make it sound more ominous; son Kid Gravy likened it to Alvin & the Chipmunks, and we spent the entire dramatic final reel of the movie making Chipmunk cracks and laughing, not what those Canadians were intending, I'm sure. |

Yes, Karen's eyes were very googly. Perfect description. I'd love to read your description of Shelly Devall. |

I stand behind my Pyx yuk. Waste of time. When there are good movies out there it seems silly to watch crap that's famous for being crap. |
