On August 3rd, Turner Classic will have all the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies. They are also showing the documentary "Tarzan: Silver Screen King of the Jungle" and the Jungle Jim movies; "Jungle Jim", "The Lost Tribe" and "Pygmy Island".

I'm definitely going to DVR a bunch of Tarzans. I'm not very familiar with the documentary or the Jungle Jim movies. I wonder if these are worth watching.

The Jungle Jim movies are Sam Katzman products and are standard matinee fair, some are better than others but in general they are worth watching especially if you are in a Sat. afternoon frame of mind. The documentary is very good.

The Tarzan documentary covers the making of all 6 of the MGM Tarzan films.
I have it and it's very good.

Thanks for the tips on the documentary! It's fun to watch and full of good behind the scenes info. I did not know, for instance, that Jane was supposed to have died at the end of Tarzan Finds a Son! (Her life was saved by the test audience reactions). The rest of the series would have been very different had they gone through with killing her off, and maybe been better for it. Tarzan could have had some romance with Princess Zandra and maybe some of those Amazon gals.

Add my thanks to those who provided the heads up on the documentary. I'm not particularly a Tarzan fan, so I only recorded the documentary and not the other Tarzan films on TCM. I enjoyed the documentary very much and found it to be quite informative.
Not plane, nor bird, nor even frog. It's just little ol' me...
