This film is currently being shown on TCM in the States and it is a pristine print.Directed by Lew Landers, It also stars Angela Greene and Jean Willes (who?)
An anthropologist wants JJ to take her to the Land of the Giant People. The latter take the form of two people who are about the same size as JJ but seem to wear moth-eaten ape suits and werewolf type makeup-actually quite good.Of course as kids we all knew that's what they were, but we loved it!
Nice B movie fare from Sam Katzman with a typical Columbia Bad Girl who wore her pith helmet at a rakish angle down to the back of her neck and was as ruthless as a bad gal could be.(She wanted to kill elephants for their ivory and sell it and would have anyone in her way eliminated)She was duly despatched over a cliff at the end by one of the two above Giant People. The cliff and surrounding rocks were of course familiar to all serial fans.
A nice example of Jungle fare....catch it if you can, its great fun and a reminder of nice little B films crafted for the kids and the kids in all of us.
