I would suggest using the Flicker Alley website, Bats. You'll save a lot.

Maybe this is the place to mention how dissatisfied I've been with Amazon lately. The last three books I got were damaged and they don't respond to complaints. Heck 'em.

Thanks, Mr P. I'll check the site out and see what they offer for shipping up North. That's the real killer these days.

I've watched enough of these to check for defective discs. They're exceptionally good quality for stuff this old, and they look very interesting. The rapid-fire editing is the first thing I noticed,
especially Kean. A lot like Eisenstein, but two of these movies came out earlier. Obvious Griffith influence.

Now updated at Flicker Alley's website: "French Masterworks: Russian Emigres in Paris 1923-1929", a 5-disc DVD box set, scheduled for release on April 9, 2013.

Hmm, no Blu-ray release. Wondering if I should pick up The Late Mathias Pascal on Blu-ray yet (the reviews are pretty good), or just wait for it on DVD as part of the box set? Decisions, decisions...

I can't find anything on Flicker Alley's website about this release. Even their search function says the title doesn't exist. Can anyone provide a link?

Google flicker alley and then click on flicker alley albatros. Sorry I can't do a link 'cause I'm on IPad.

Thanks, Mr P, that did the trick. I will be placing an order for the set.

Weird that I couldn't access this page through FA's main web page.

It's a tiny operation and they don't always get the website perfectly right, but their products are always outstanding.
