I'm surprised not to see a thread on the SS's new release of THE SPIDER'S WEB. I just got my copy in the mail today. This is the 5th version that I have purchased of this title, and it was well worth it. I've only watched chapter 1, but I have to say that it's the sharpest print that I have seen of this title. Even the 2 blacked out shots in the 1st chapter in inferior prints are completely visible. It's well worth the investment.

So the looney tunes lying thief Dr Grood has given up all pretense of only releasing public domain titles? Interesting.

I never saw a post I agreed with more.

Well, it's a part of the Archive section of the squadron. Whether he's right or wrong about releasing titles for study is not mine to say. I'm just saying that I've never seen a better print of THE SPIDERS WEB, and it's well worth taking a look at it.

Willie, you haven't seen a thread on The Spider's Web here because most Balconeers long ago gave up caring what Grood does.

Hi Riddlerider~ I know about how you guys feel about Doc. But I just thought that I'd let you in on the beautiful quality of his THE SPIDER'S WEB. You guys may not care what he does, but if any of you are collectors that want the best print available, I thought you ought to know about this release.

I apologize if I've wasted my time and bothered you.

Best,

willie

It doesn't bother me. But what you're asking me is why I don't spend time and money at the site of someone who lied to me and stole from me.

We're just trying to warn you, willie. There's a rattlesnake in your path. But I'm afraid that, like me, you'll have to learn by experience.

One small suggestion: don't give him any money before a project is finished and you have heard from others that it's being delivered honestly. There are many reasons why we don't trust the guy, but I would in particular suggest ignoring his pleas for money to restore something. His restorations are more like desecrations, if, and this is a big if, they ever take place at all. We are still waiting for Vol 3 of The Masked Rider, and what's it been? More than ten years?

The guy may not mean to be a crook exactly, but it's somehow part of his DNA. He makes these grandiose plans public, but then seems incapable of carrying them out. It must be very unpleasant to be him. No doubt he thinks we attack him unfairly because he really doesn't know how dishonest he is. Typically for a certain type of ham actor, he thinks he's bringing a little magic into our humdrum lives, and we should be grateful. After all, what good is our money if it doesn't go to support him?

Willie, this formed the basis of the falling out between you and me: your insistence that people care about things Grood is putting out--in our case Daredevils of the West--while things he took money for years ago still weren't out, namely The Masked Rider. At least two people I know supported The Masked Rider and died before it came out. It has been well over a decade since that started and it's a damn funny thing, but wasn't Volume 3 going to be released this month? Why yes, it was. And it's still not out. So seriously, show a little respect for the people he trampled on and don't get huffy when we don't give a flying damn what else he does.

Common sense tells me to stay out of this, but, what the hell.

1) I think a lot of the regulars here have that DDOTW release. Whether they actually purchased it from the SS, or traded amongst themselves to ensure no monies to Dr Grood, is something I don't know and don't give a damn about.

2) I know Willie. I've seen Willie get huffy. Trust me, he wasn't huffy on this thread. Willie actually cares about serials and getting the best quality print. Willie also likes to share the info with other serial lovers. He knows the history between you all, and like most of the rest of us, is probably tired of hearing it.

3) Please stop using dead people in your diatribes. That is getting real old.

4) I knew you'd post on this thread, it's only Grood-centric threads that bring you back here. Personally, I wish no one would post about Grood, least of all to guarantee your continued absence from these boards.

And finally:

5) Go f**k yourself.

It seems to me as a (I hope) neutral party that lots of people are getting huffy about this topic. Can we change the subject?

1)I'm sure people did get that DDOTW. It was purchased for me, which is the only reason I have it.

2)Willie gets insulted that people aren't falling over themselves and posts a "sorry if I wasted my time and bothered you" post. That pretty well sounds huffy to me, though I suppose your mileage may vary.

3)What I posted wasn't a diatribe--you should very well know my diatribes when you read them, Chuck--but a reminder of why Grood is so disliked. There's a point to mentioning the fact that people died before getting his product, especially since one of them passed a full eight years after giving him the money for it. I get that you don't like the reminder, but that's why it's there.

4)There's plenty of Grood-centric threads here I have no particular interest in commenting on. The recent thread for The Hope Diamond Mystery, for instance. If I don't post here particularly often, it's more likely because a)there's little of interest to me to post about and b)I'm just not particularly posting anywhere. Point in fact, I only really post on Home Theater Forum anymore since that board has more interest to me at the moment. I've only been getting blu ray for two years, so there's plenty to read about there. But even there I rarely post, and at that mostly on the 3D Blu Ray board (as I have a 3D TV and 3D Blu Ray player).

5)Very classy.

As to you, mort, I don't remember ever particularly attacking you, so I have no clue what your beef is with me. I don't find that I'm any nastier or more pleasant than most of the other inhabitants of this board--I might even make a case for more pleasant since I never referred to Grood as a "kitten rapist". I have as legitimate if not more legitimate a beef with the man than anyone else here. If you don't like my once every couple of years posts, feel free to skip reading them my friend. I assure you, you won't hurt my feelings.

Todd~ I was not huffy in the least. I was just sharing information about the finest print I've ever seen of THE SPIDER'S WEB. Of course released by DrGrood, which upsets you. Yes, this is exactly like the situation with DAREDEVILS OF THE WEST, which set us at odds.

THE MASKED RIDER w/BOOK will be released. The calendar just got messed up a bit. Even THE SPIDER'S WEB got put off for a couple of months.

But the point of this thread was just to let serious collectors know that this is the finest print of THE SPIDER'S WEB that I have ever seen, and worth investing in. There's nothing huffy about that Todd, just the facts maam!!

And laudits to The Batman for a fine post on this topic, with a fine ending. Hooray Batman!!

This post is meant to be pleasant and explanatory to the Balcony members, with one exception.

I definitely agree with The Batman about Todd's opinion on this thread. TODD, GO F**K YOURSELF.

WILLIE
