The problem with my copy of TSW is that it has a muddy soundtrack. How's the sound, willie?

Well, I finished the last 3 chapters of TSW. Same as the last few chapters, and there was even a bright spot in the middle of one of the chapters. Some hiss in the audio of one of them too..

Once again, we're stuck with overall quality of VG-E. That's only due to the bright spots, which get progressively worse after chapter 8. Other than that, it's still the sharpest print of this serial I've seen. Especially chapter 1 which is as close to perfect as it gets.

Thanks for the updates on the quality, Willie. It sounds like this is one of the better versions out there, but there still some room for improvement.

This may be the version to get, if you don't already have it, but those looking for an upgrade may want to hold off.

Eric still won't accept orders from me. Bats tried and failed to get him to sell me I forget what. Besides, The Spider's Web I have now came from Trev, and it's fine (my old VHS boot was terrible, though, and that's what I was writing about earlier).

Sorry to hear I wasn't successful in getting what was owed to you, Mr P. I did my diplomatic best, but I have no inside track with Eric, no matter what others say. I can't recall the title, either, was it MYSTERY SQUADRON.

My copy of THE SPIDER'S WEB is from Fred Shay-- and it's pretty dern good. No reason for me to upgrade.

Mine is from Restored Serials, which means it's a cleaned up version of Fred's. As I recall, it's good enough.

Is that the version you were selling a couple of years ago?

I think it was Drums of Fu Manchu, but it was so long ago. I'm bearing up pretty well without it, though. No worries.

The main thing is, I love both of the Spider serials, for very different reasons. The first one delivers actual action thrills, and the second is the craziest serial ever (though Terry and the Pirates runs it a close second).

I think the only person who really has an in with Eric is the guy who sells him whatever makes him act cuckoo.

I have several (source) prints of The Spider's Web here - including Fred Shays and Richard Orsaks
Last November, during an extensive remastery (this time onto two DVDs), I accessed them fully (virtually frame by frame across all 15 chapters)
Orsak's is significantly better - and then after digital enhancement - much better than the others (including Fred's)

That seems to be the case. It was called Western Trails and it's defunct.
