Didn't Hermitage Hill go out of business?

I thought it was Prince Barin's operation, which he shut down.

Edit: Yeah, here's what I think is a current link, but Mr. Bats may be more on top of things:

Thanks, Mr Hale. I had remembered Prince Barin saying he was going to shut it down. The link I used, which still works for some reason, is from an old email I had from the good prince. I was surprised when it worked and assumed he was still in business.

Darn shame, he was a pleasure to deal with and the product was top-notch. IMHO

Yep, he decided to fold up his tent a few months ago. I remember getting an email from him about the shutdown. He offered a couple of items that were in the pipeline before shutting down but without any cover art or anything else. About as bare-bone as you can get. I don't even remember what they were.

Yes, I got that email and offer, too. The serials were:

THE ADVENTURES OF SIR GALAHAD
THE BLACK ARROW
JUNGLE RAIDERS
SECRET OF TREASURE ISLAND

Just received a refund notice from Hermitage on my attempt to order Call of the Savage. The clips they posted on the web looked like good quality, too. :(

Sorry, Turan, I wish I had remembered they shutdown, before I posted about them.

As with B movies in general, for me the tipping point in serials is the late postwar to early 50s when poverty row theatrical filler and television filler looked exactly the same.

They're depressingly underpopulated, usually confined to small unpersuasive sets and focused on guys in suits standing around with an occasional flurry of punching. And for this boomer kid, they evoke the dire daytime fare when you were stuck indoors and couldn't find a cartoon, a western, a comedy, or even a tolerable game show.

Ironically, it's the stock footage that makes many last-gasp Republics bearable. Stuff blows up, old cars bust through guardrails, etc.

I just checked with Prince Barin, who ran Hermitage and he confirmed he is definitely out of business and any orders he receives he immediately refunds.

Turan, I sent you a PM that should make your day.

Prince and I still stay in contact - he helped me out with an "organizational issue" that I had here a couple of months back
A true gentleman
But I've never been able to get to the bottom of why he finished up
Anyone have any insights?

If you follow the link from the DVD Savant's current page, you'll find a fascinating article on widescreen film production, including mentioning the first serials in WS. Has anybody ever seen these things presented that way?
