Found this DVD recently, a 2013 release from Legend Films, but at least they didn't colorize it. It's a 1992 compilation from Sandy Oliveri of 90 min. of serial trailers and a few odd bits, I watched it yesterday (quality is very good to excellent depending on the trailer) and wrote 'em down just for you. Amazon lists this thing for seven bucks.Ready? GO. King of the Rocket Men The Iron Claw Batman (1960s reissue) Don Daredevil Rides Again Mysterious Doctor Satan The Vigilantes are Coming Superman Trader Tom of the China Seas The Lone Ranger (scenes from the Spanish subtitled version) King of the Texas Rangers Perils of Nyoka (under that title!) Undersea Kingdom Zorro's Black Whip The Vigilante The Green Archer Congo Bill Panther Girl of the Kongo (you can see the cars driving around behind the "jungle" in one sequence, heh-heh) Jungle Gold (1966 feature cut of The Tiger Woman) Flash Gordon The Phantom Empire Zorro's Fighting Legion Spy Smasher Tex Granger Dick Tracy The Great Adventures of Captain Kidd Captain America Gang Busters Radar Men from the Moon Manhunt in the African Jungles The Green Hornet King of the Congo Blackhawk (and they even give Reed Crandall a credit!) Funny thing is IMHO, the two best serial trailers were DON WINSLOW OF THE NAVY and THE OREGON TRAIL, a pair of not so great serials. I thought MYSTERIOUS DR. SATAN had a dumb trailer, with titles having the robot say, "I am Dr. Satan's robot, I......" The trailer for G-MEN VS. THE BLACK DRAGON showing a bunch of Lydecker explosions, but none of those appeared in the serial. |

This isn't available at Amazon North, yet, hopefully soon. For years, I was never a big fan of trailers, nothing against them, but I wouldn't buy a compilation like this. I've learned to appreciate them and even found many have scenes that aren't in the final film. So I am looking forward to this release. And the price is nice, too. |
