Mebbe Nat Levine intended serials be seen one chapter per week and you've bought into that, but no matter how quotable an expert you may be, I don't think you can speak for God. In Nat Levine's day, he had the hammer. There weren't no VCRs or DVD players and very few could afford serial films to view at home. I know you're coming from your purist heart, LG, but methinks everyone has to do what works for them. Like I've said in the past, I can't remember what happened in the last chapter a week later, or, in fact, that I was even watching a serial.

I'm with ya, Chandy. This guy is a chapter a day, sometimes two chapters if the serial is particularly good.

Willie, I promise to get back to updating the list on this thread. Any input from our fellow serial watchers will be added as well.

Besides, at one chapter a week, but watching a different serial each day, you could do 28 serials a year. :P

Well, we've had this discussion before, of course. I just think that the fun of serials is one a week and watching them in bulk takes the fun out. And nothin' is sillier to me than somebody who watches a serial in one or two nights, or 3 or 4 chapters in a sitting, and then says it's "repetitive." That's crazy talk. And YOU, my friend, need to pull yourself away from the snack bar sooner and catch the very beginning of the chapter: it has a recap of what you've missed.

That said, my FNF gang, when the serial starts, tends to go, "What happened last time? I don't remember." They catch up fast. (When we had kids watchin', though, they ALWAYS remembered and in fact had usually discussed prior to the start "how he's gonna get out of it.")

I can recall watchin' Twin Peaks religiously and discussing it with co-workers and friends and bein' SO jazzed for the next episode - a week from now. Same thing with the British version of The Office. To "Tivo a bunch of episodes and binge watch-them" is to me a colossal horror akin to never reading Shakespeare, walking through a beautiful orchard and keeping your eyes on your shoes, or never listening to Pet Sounds.

And now we're getting sidetracked away from my original questions. Personally I could care less about "HOW" anyone watches their serials. That's a different topic and really doesn't belong in this thread. Please look at the title of this thread and reconsider my original post about this thread.

It seems as though we've lost enthusiasm for this thread. After a couple of years I'd think that the list should be pretty well filled with info to help anyone complete their collections, but it's not.

Maybe I'm wrong, and this thread just isn't going to work like I thought it would. And thanks Bats for offering to get back to updating this list. I wasn't pointing a finger at you or anyone else. I know that real life can get in the way, and interest can wane too.

I suspect that their are more than a few nice collections around that folks just aren't willing to reveal their sources for.

And I suspect that I'm not the only collector still trying to upgrade.

Maybe we should just start a list of reliable and unreliable sources for serials. Obviously, no one site is going to have all of the serials in top quality. I do know that I can't continue to purchase multiple copies of serials until I find a nice copy. I need help locating some good sources.

I guess that about all. If I try to expound I'll just start repeating myself.

I'm sorry if I'm being a pest or annoying anyone.

That would be 28 serials that I would have no idea what was going on.

Willie, we'll get this list going again, and the enthusiasm for it. I need something to do at work anyway.

Well, then, what's your favorite brand of peanut butter?

Adams Chunky, by a wide margin. And my exhaustive internets research reveals that it is sold in Sacramento, should you be unacquainted with it.

Personally, Willie, I can’t help you, since I've already commented on everything I own (Commando Cody pending).

I think you'd do better with queries on particular serials, rather than a issuing a general call to action. A few of us here have learned that that approach gets zero results.

But people here still love serials, and will chip in on specific questions. After all, you can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be led (Stan Laurel).

Thanks Bats. I think that the enthusiasm waned because there weren't many new releases showing up. Hard to say if it can be rekindled.

OH yeah, thanks for the question about peanut butter Stan! (Gravy)

And Mr. Hale, I don't see why you consider my approach wrong. You've tried to throw me under the bus before. What's it really about this time?

Willie, I'm trying to have a conversation, and offering a sincere suggestion.

If you really think that amounts to throwing you under the bus, then for simplicity I suggest we just ignore each other from now on.

Frank,

OK, I apologize. I took your comments the wrong way and thought you were being very sarcastic. No need to ignore each other.

I agree with my friend, willie, let's get back to the topic about what are the best copies out there. A couple of times I posted about WOLF DOG, and so far it hasn't been updated.

I'd give Vigilantes Are Coming (from VCI) a solid 7. Not their best work by a long shot.
