Help! I just finished watching this old Mascot serial and I've been trying to figure out the lyrics to the catchy song as done by the Mystery Riders he first line sounds like this; " The gallows come out of nowhere, they know our secret that we are here-here -here. I can catch some other lyrics about the desert wind but that's about it. Any ideas? On an older thread, someone said that the music is taken from Phantom of the West with Tom Tyler? I haven't seen that ancient serial but I'd be surprised if that was true.

It's a long time since I saw Kit Carson but my recollection is that, while similar, the song to which you refer is not the one in Phantom of the West. By the way, you'll only hear the Phantom song (also played over the main titles) if you're watching a tape or DVD mastered from an ancient rental-library print. Most extant 16mm prints were struck in the early Fifties by a TV distributor who, for unknown reasons, dubbed a piece of spooky Lee Zahler music over the singing. Presumably he thought the song was too hokey. |
