Now it feels like the holidays.
Yeah, cinephiles and holidays are like bourbon and Coca~Cola.

I roll and rock.

You certainly rock. I would have to come to Tennessee to see if you roll. Just how round ARE you?

Paul, I'm 'bout round as an obelisk.

Mort, I see you've been looking at the magpie thread. I'll see what I can do after the holidays.

I'm no longer permitted to post on the Serial Squadron Facebook page after mentioning that MANC is screening The House of Mystery (in conjunction with Flicker Alley) in September. It's like old times, I swear.

Tommy Cook is also going to be there.

So clearly, this event has no interest to serial fans.....

Don't worry, Rodney, in 10 or 12 years Grood will send somebody to tell you that he forgives you and you can post in the SS again.

I often forget that Eric is the only person legally capable of doing something beneficial for serial fans. I've been set straight.

I don't get it. Why should Eric have a beef with MANC over House of Mystery? It's a legit release from Flicker Alley and a serial that Eric wouldn't have been able to get his mitts on in any case. Have things gotten so bad over there that Squadron members can't even discuss serials other than those Grood brings out under Squadron auspices?

Maybe one of his stooges will come over here and explain this to us.

By the way, MANC's Martin Grams alerted me to this release and suggested I contact Flicker Alley. As a result they've asked me to write a "guest post" on silent serials for their website in conjunction with the release of Mystery.

I gotta agree with you guys. I don't frequent the SS anymore, mostly because there is no one posting on the boards. But this does border on the surreal and makes me think what could have been, had sanity prevailed.

In the meantime, we have Mystery, the most important serial release in many years #~%€ Eric.

What's "MANC", guys?

And, while I realize there remain many burrs under the saddle about the Squadron, may I suggest that if we all just stopped worrying about what Eric thought, did, said, or whatever, that would be the best revenge of all, because it would drive him crazy?

MANC is short of Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention, which Martin Grams has built into a major show for fans of vintage TV, movies, radio, etc. I went to one of the early shows and wasn't impressed, but he's grown yearly attendance from a couple hundred people to several thousand. Martin asks me every year if I would consider coming back, and this year I think I'm going to take him up on it.

Rodney

I'm not asking for it to be verbatim, what exactly was your post and response about House of Mystery? I have to agree with RR and Panzer's responses with that this action means the SS is only for the most holy of holy Squadron serial releases and everyone else can go rot in the bowels of hell.

The DVD release from Flicker Alley isn't the issue. Apparently that's gotten his blessing.

What seems to be the issue is that Martin has negotiated with Flicker Alley to publically screen the DVD at his convention. Eric seems to have some beef with him, claiming that he is an "ass" that has stolen SS releases. Maybe that's true, maybe it isn't. I have no way of knowing. What I DO know is that a film related event that's screening serials, and having serial guests in 2015 is something of interest to serial fans, regardless if Eric likes the promoter of the event or not.

My reply was something like "It's also being screened at the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention in September".

He replied that he was deleting my "plug", because the promoter is an "ass" that's "stolen Serial Squadron releases".

Oh well.

But to be clear, his beef was with the screening. Not with Flicker Alley.
