For Christmas this AM my sons gift to me was the 1˝ foot high, 448 page, leather bound book “Valley Of The Cliffhangers.” Bryan lives in L.A. and brought it home with him on the plane last week.
This book covers every Republic serial in depth and is crammed with info and photos on production details, complete cast/costs/dates, filming mistakes, locations sites, stunts, title/cast/chapter/character name changes, money/legal problems, special effects, shooting schedules, injuries, etc.
Every serial has color intros and ones of comic strip origin like Lone Ranger, Spy Smasher, Dick Tracy, Red Ryder, King of the Royal Mounted has great original, color, artist drawings right from the comic strip, supplementing the info and photos from the serial.
Never thought I’d own an original of this unique book and wish I could share it with all of you.

He sure knows how to please Dad, and, better yet, he wants to.

Life is just a bowl of cherries, it's too mysterious, don't take it serious...

Enjoy! I treated myself to it when it came out in the 70's. In those days serials were but a memory...no VCRs then and DVDs didn't exist.
Talk about a coffee table book....its the size of a coffee table! I remember when it was delivered!
The prose is rather verbose but it is a mine of information and stills.
I still have it, in mint condition with letters from Jack Mathis, and the supplement he produced years later.
It is a personal treasure.
Enjoy!
