I think I'm going to start this one in a week or so. Good decision? Bad decision? What should I look for, if anything?

It's been a while since I last saw this one. I was entertained but don't remember a lot about it. A middle-of-the-pack fedora serial.

A lot depends on what YOU like.

I hated this serial as a kid, 'cause I liked fantasy in my serials & this one is pretty light in that deparment. If you're one of those who delight in Republic fights (which I always found boring as hell), you'll certainly get plenty of them.

The serial is....eh.
Roy barcroft has a dual role.
Look for the flooding tunnel scene from DAREDEVILS OF THE RED CIRCLE at the end of Chapter One.

As I remember it, it recycles a fair amount of material from earlier Republics.

For what it's worth, I've never seen (or have no memory of seeing) The Purple Monster Strikes, so I'm going to watch that after The Phantom Rider instead.

As I recall The Purple Monster has a pretty slinky female counterpart, but she isn't in the serial for long.Watch out for her!

I certainly prefer Clayton Moore in G-Men over Barcroft in tights and doing the transformation soooo many times.

Apparently, I did see Purple Monster back in 2005. This shouldn't be so hard.

Two chapters in, but it all seems very familiar to me. Even down to the thing of Roy Barcroft chewing the match sticks. I'm not sure if I've seen it before, or if so much is recycled from other serials that it's just the way it is.

I like it though. It has pretty much everything I like in a serial.

That's why I like rating movies on IMDb. Not so much to rate them, but to keep track of what I watched. A nice, easy system.

Always be yourself! Unless you can be Batman...then always be Batman!
