I just finished watching this above average cliffhanger, for the very first time, and I was intrigued, by a situation, with it, that I have never encountered before, with any other serial. The opening titles, of all 15 episodes, show the four, Mountie heroes galloping, behind the credits, and then again, they are shown, behind the end credits. The Mounties are: top-billed Robert Stevens/Kellard, who does an excellent job, perennial, Columbia second-lead Richard Fiske, personal favorite Kermit Maynard, back in uniform, seven years, after starring, in his own great, Ambassador, Mountie series, and the unidentified, fourth Mountie, Constable Harding. Despite Harding appearing, throughout the 15 chapters, he is not billed, among the 13 names, in the opening credits, as the other, three Mounties are. I then looked at IMDB, where film researchers had added another, additional, 15 unbilled actors, to the film's credits, but amazingly, no film buff had still identified Constable Harding, on there! I realize, that he did not have a major role, but he continually appeared, in much, of the serial, and even had dialogue, in some scenes. So, to rectify a 74 year oversight, I would like to give credit, to longtime actor and stuntman, George DeNormand, who played Constable Harding. |

Hawkeye, do you have verifiable proof that George DeNormand played Constable Harding? If so, I am an IMDb contributor and can submit a request to have it updated. |

Batman - I have spent over 60 years, recognizing unidentified, obscure, character actors, in films and stills, and have contributed, to many books and magazines, over the decades. I have also contributed many thousands, of additions, to IMBD cast listings, since it's inception. Besides George DeNormand, I have also identified 13 additional, uncredited actors, in this serial, and these 14 will shortly be added, to the 28 names, presently listed, on IMDB. I do not believe, that one. of the names, presently listed there, is correct, because I did not spot Robert Barron, in the entire serial. There are a couple, of shots, of I. Stanford Jolley, in which, he looks very much like Robert Barron, and I believe, that this is where the misidentification came from. |

40 years ago I knew someone who was friends with Nell O'Day, who was the heroine of this serial. She said that when James Horne directed a scene he wouldn't just tell the cast what he wanted, he would scream out his instructions, while running up a hill, then continue screaming as he came running down the hill. She said after finishing directing a serial, he would have to spend a month in a sanitarium. Victor Jory told me that Horne was nuts, but claimed everything they did was in the script. I find that hard to believe because that silliness started and ended with Horne. Riddle Rider, maybe you talked to people from his serials and could jump in and help us out. Hawkeye, you appear to be well-named; perhaps you could help me with identifying some serial-actor faces who've been puzzling me for some time. Pictured below are two minor players from The Great Adventures of Captain Kidd, who I've been unable to ID; both play antagonistic naval officers in separate chapters:![]() ![]() Then, a pair of unfamiliar members of the suspect board in The Spider Returns: ![]() ![]() I appreciate any help you can give. Your discovery of Robert Barron's spurious IMDB credit in Perils of the Royal Mounted, by the way, is interesting--but not surprising; Columbia-serial cast listings on the IMDB, I've found, are extraordinarily garbled; many actors are missing, while others are listed as being in serials that they never appeared in. I've changed some over the years (removing Ernie Adams from the cast of White Eagle and adding him to The Desert Hawk, for example), but there are still others; just last week I made a thorough search of Tex Granger and satisfied myself that neither Marshall Reed nor Forrest Taylor are in it, despite IMDB listings to the contrary. |

Jerry - The second photo is actor/stuntman, Sandy Sanders, who was married, to 50's starlet, Gloria Talbott, and was a member, of Gene Autry's Flying A stock company, as well as being a fixture, in Sam Katzman's Columbia serials. Sorry, but I don't know the first fellow. I recently viewed this serial, and have more than a dozen additions, for IMDB, including Sanders, which I will be posting, soon. Off hand, I can't name the two, from "Spider's Web", but I have that serial scheduled, for another viewing, during February, so I'll post, if I come up, with their names. I'm up there, in age, so things don't always come, to me, right away, but I do pretty good, considering. |

Thanks a million for the Sanders identification, Hawkeye. I'm curious to see who else you can hunt up in Great Adventures of Captain Kidd; when I reviewed it, I noticed (among others) George Keymas, Wade Crosby, Marshall Bradford, George Lynn, and George Eldredge in uncredited speaking roles (Eldredge's brother John was mistakenly credited with his part), and added them to the IMDB. I'm sure there's more I missed, though. |

Finally! After a year and a half delay, due to personal issues, the cast additions, for "Perils of the Royal Mounted" and "Great Adventures of Captain Kidd", are now posted, on IMdB, for those, who are interested. I was also away, from this board, for that period, but hopefully, I can stay current, from now on. |
