All right I don't know why I waited so long to watch this one-- I think I had negative thoughts of Bridges from his old man role on Seinfeld, shame on me.

Watched Chapter 1 the other night and Wowie Wow Zow did this one deliver.

This wasn't just a good serial chapter, this was a good wartime movie period. What a cast! Sets! Action! Acting! Actual Acting! And we get Japanese villains who are not overt caricatures (although I don't personally mind that) along with some light and shadow in our cinematography!

Lloyd Bridges is a Secret Agent-- it says so on his ID Card, although I think that instantly destroys your primary role as a secret agent but who cares? There's no time to figure that out because we come in at 90 miles an hour with ANOTHER secret agent in a foreign land in danger and 13 minutes into Chapter One we get Bridges who sneaks aboard a Nazi boat to convince some other dude to join him-- said dude not knowing that he's working for the Nazi's and not sure he can believe Bridges when all of a sudden the guys who have pretended to be ordinary seamen come walking into his room now in full Nazi gear-- talk about timing!

So the dude helps Bridges take out the Nazi's so they can slip on the outfits and fool the other Nazi's with their clever German accents and then take a ballsy move against the oncoming Japanese submarine that leads to their own destruction!

As Mrs Fish said after Chapter One wrapped "Wow! I good serial! I didn't know they existed!" Keep in mind she's sat through WHO'S GUILTY with me so I felt her pain.

This one moves to the top of my serial viewing rotation as soon as SOS Coastguard wraps up and boy am I psyched about it!
