One wonders if somebody in Norman Lear's office was a fan of the Dead End Kids and Bowery Boys.

Billy Halop played 'guy on a barstool' in two first-season episodes of All in the Family (1971), and then popped up 2 or 3 times a season as Bert Munson (always in Kelsey's Bar) until his death in 1976.

Billy Benedict is Archie's neighbor Jimmy McNab in two 1971 episodes. He was all over TV in the '70s, in fact.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Dell had a major role as "The Devil's Son" in Lear's Faustian comedy A Year at the Top, 1977, which was cancelled after only five episodes.
