Superdome Could Be Ready In A Year

NEW ORLEANS --
The Louisiana Superdome, heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina, can be repaired and ready to reopen for major football events by next November, according to a consultant's report.

Repair costs are estimated at about $140 million. Most of that is expected to be covered by the state's insurance and by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The renovation will include extensive improvements to the building that can be done at the time at a lower cost.

A Nov. 1 opening would allow the state-owned Dome to again host the Sugar Bowl, the annual Bayou Classic game between Southern University and Grambling State, the New Orleans Bowl and state high school championships.

The Superdome was used as a shelter for more than 25,000 people following Hurricane Katrina.

The Board Idiot

Tags said that he wants to keep the Saints in New Orleans. My guess is next year they will stay in San Antonio, or Baton Rouge or wherever they are put, then in 07 will be back to the Superdome.

If they end up moving, it will be after 2007, and then no one can say it was because of Hurricane Katrina.

Tags also said he wants a team in LA...big surprise there...logical choice would be to have the Arizona Cardinals move to LA...keeps all the divisions the same and there wouldn't be a need for pesky realignment...remember, for awhile, New Orleans, Carolina and Atlanta were part of the NFC WEST! NFL doesn't like realignment that much apparently.

Not sure how I would feel about them returning to New Orleans, but it's gotta be better than giving another football team to California <_<

I would like the Saints to stay in New Orleans (and New Orleans would like that, too). They should stay in San Antonio and/or Baton Rouge then move into the stadium when it's ready and have a grand Return of the Saints bash of some sort.

As for LA...they don't need a team. I suppose the Cards would fit that bill, though; sort of a "fresh start" deal. A few years ago, though, there had been talk of selling the Vikings and moving them, perhaps to LA.
