James seems to think his Colts days are over

Edgerrin James seems to think that his Indianapolis Colts playing days are over, according to a report in the Indianapolis Star.

"I don't see nothing happening,'' James told the paper Thursday night. "You can read between the lines and from the things I'm hearing, nothing's going to happen.

"And that's crazy, man. I'm part of the solution, I'm not part of the problem. Crazy, man."

James is one of four other Colts starters — receiver Reggie Wayne, linebacker David Thornton and defensive lineman Raheem Brock are the others — that could become unrestricted free agents March 3.

The Star reports that GM Bill Polian's off-season priorities are to re-sign Wayne and to work out a contract extension for defensive end Dwight Freeney.

James rushed for 1,506 yards and 13 touchdowns this season and is headed to the Pro Bowl after his fourth 1,500-yard season.

"Maybe I'll get to a situation where somebody appreciates me," James said. "I'm going to always be a ballplayer. You know I've got game. You can't knock what I do.

"I'm a running back like Walter Payton, somebody who played a long time. I'm in that mold ... guys who played 12, 13 years and always were consistent."

The Colts refused to comment when contacted about James' comments.

The Board Idiot

Dallas, San Fran, New Orleans, New York Jets, Houston, Baltimore, Tennessee, Minnesota, Detroit, Cleveland, Arizona and Oakland would be good places for him to go, depending on how the respective teams believe they will draft if Indy doesn't keep him around.

Could be a big mistake by the Colts if they let him go, then again, they did let Marshall Faulk go for Edge, which was somewhat good for them.
