McCallum Drops Star Wars TV Hints
It's "everything the fans always wanted the prequels to be."
by Paul Davidson

March 14, 2006 -
Star Wars producer and Lucas's right-hand man, Rick McCallum, was visiting the Ericsson Empire Awards the other night and gave Empire Online an update on the status of the upcoming live-action television series Lucas is working on.

McCallum confirmed the broadcast timeframe we've been hearing about, suggesting a start date in the fall of 2007. In the meantime, writers are busily preparing the scripts that the show will need when it goes into production.

McCallum stressed the darker nature of the series compared to the movies. "It's fantastic; we've got some incredible writers. It's going to be much darker, much more character-based, and I think it's going to be everything the fans always wanted the prequels to be. They'll be one-hour episodes. It takes place between Episodes III and IV." He also confirmed that the series will feature all-new characters, and that it would likely start off with several bounty hunters. If an hour of new Star Wars with rebels, Imperials, and bounty hunters doesn't whet the excitement and anticipation of Star Wars fans, what will?

Hmm...starting in fall 2007...

I waited about 8 years to see how Anakin turned to Darth Vader, so I guess I can wait about a year and a half for the TV stuff.

I wonder if characters like a young Luke, young Leia, young Boba, Han, Lando, Chewie and such will have cameo appearances.

Probably in those cheesey cameos. They help this kid on Tatooine, and at the end of the episode they ask, "What's your name?" And he goes. "Luke. Luke Skywalker." Aunt Beru calls, he runs off, and the main characters walk away from the camera. End episode. ;)

:rofl1:

I'd actually like to see him be called "Luke Lars" at some point...seems weird that they hid him and yet he still has the Skywalker name.

Then, when he's old enough, he can be told that he's not really the Lars' boy but is in fact a Skywalker...remember in ANH, he's the first to call Luke "Skywalker"...

Intersting point. Never thought of that before, but a valid point.

Then the kid would respond "Luke Lars", Beru would call him, he would run off, Owen would turn to the main characters and explain, "The kid's too much of a Skywalker", explaining some of the kid's actions in the episode. He goes off after Luke, mains walk away, end episode.
