The Yanks are coming!

From NFL.com:
Quote:

For all the big words and life lessons Roger Goodell included in his booming reaction to Michael Vick's admission of involvement in dogfighting, the NFL commissioner's message seemingly could have been whittled to two words: Nice try.

Goodell suspended the Atlanta Falcons quarterback indefinitely without pay Friday, just hours after Vick filed a plea agreement that portrayed him as less involved than three co-defendants and guilty mainly of poor judgment for associating with them.

In a letter to Vick, Goodell admonished him for "reprehensible" acts and for associating with people engaged in gambling in violation of NFL rules. He also rebuked him for seemingly trying to paint himself as something other than the ringleader.

"You are now justifiably facing consequences for the decisions you made and the conduct in which you engaged. Your career, freedom and public standing are now in the most serious jeopardy," Goodell wrote. "I hope that you will be able to learn from this difficult experience and emerge from it better prepared to act responsibly and to make the kinds of choices that are expected of a conscientious and law abiding citizen."

Vick acknowledged bankrolling gambling on the dogfights, but denied placing bets himself or taking any of the winnings. He admitted that dogs not worthy of the pit were killed "as a result of the collective efforts" of himself and two co-defendants.

Okay, I am getting fucking pissed at the people who say this is all because Vick is black. Stop lying to yourselves, you assholes. If Brett Favre did this, if it was Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or Roger Clemens or David Beckham, it would be no different. Race is a nonissue. It is simply a case of illegal gambling and dogfighting. It's not because he's black; it's not because of the clothing he wears; it's not because of the way he wears his hair; it's not because he's a star QB in the NFL; it's because he broke the law. He committed a felony. Get over yourselves and see the truth.

I haven't heard anybody say anything about him being black...

It's a shame though, Vick was so popular and liked. But not to the extent of Brady or Manning. If it was them, I'm sure more of the public would side with them.

And the fact that he probably grew up into this. Maybe not to a huge extent but somewhere years ago, he got involved, or the fact that he saw this when he was a teen or so and believed it was right ever since. He got in with the wrong people.

Not to say Dogfighting is right but some other athlete said something interesting. Maybe just to ponder. How come we can go shoot deers and bears for our pleasure but not watch dogsfight? Dogfighting itself, I have a problem with, but I thought it was more disturbing when it was alleged that he abused the dogs and killed them.

I haven't heard anybody say anything about him being black...

They're airing a special four-hour First Take on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNews, and a couple of the guys they've had on were arguing that it's because he's black, and I am freaking pissed off at them.

Well the crime rate for African americans is big but I don't see how that has to do anything with Vick.

The Board Idiot

There was an interview with Charles Barkley a few days ago..he said it's not because of being black, or the culture, etc. He grew up in a tough area too, but he's alright.

I'll see if I can find the interview on espn.com or something.
