The Yanks are coming!

From NLL Insider:

In the wake of a heated, penalty minute filled game between the Toronto Rock and Minnesota Swarm this past Friday night, NLL Insider has received confirmation from several sources that Toronto Head Coach Glenn Clark punched Minnesota forward Sean Pollock while the two were retreating to their respective dressing rooms at the Air Canada Centre just minutes after the Swarm edged the Rock in OT, 17-16.

Sources say that while in the tunnel leading to the hallway that exits to both team’s dressing rooms, Pollock made a boisterous comment about the team’s win which Clark took exception to.

Clark then quickly approached Pollock and punched him twice in the face. Pollock did not retaliate and the situation was diffused when Minnesota Head Coach Duane Jacobs pulled Clark off of the Swarm forward.

Metro Toronto Police, who were already on scene, were called to the dressing room area, but it is still unclear if assault charges have or will in fact be filed against Clark.

Charges have been filed.

From the Calgary Sun:

Don't expect to see Glenn Clark behind the Toronto Rock's bench anytime soon.

Initially, it appeared no charges would be filed in an ugly incident after the National Lacrosse League game concluded Friday night at the Air Canada Centre.

However, Toronto Police at 52 Division confirmed yesterday Clark had been charged with simple assault and will be in court Feb. 25 to deal with the matter.

According to the team, following the Minnesota Swarm's 17-16 overtime victory over the Rock, Clark and Swarm player Sean Pollock "were involved in an altercation in the corridor leading to (the Rock) dressing room."

Numerous sources said Clark took two shots at Pollock, who was apparently chirping loudly about the Swarm's victory following the chippy contest.

Pollock had been ejected from the game and there are questions whether he should have been allowed to be anywhere near the Rock's dressing room after the contest.

NLL Insider has learned from sources close to the NLL Head Offices that the league has in fact suspended Toronto Head Coach Glenn Clark for an incident stemming from an altercation between Clark and Minnesota Swarm forward Sean Pollock.

Sources say that the league has completed their investigation and will be making an official announcement later this afternoon.

The Toronto Rock coach has been alleged to have punched Pollock after a verbal altercation arouse in the hallways leading to both team’s dressing rooms at the Air Canada Centre. The Swarm had just won a penalty filled game in OT, 17-16, and tensions had been high throughout the game.

The Yanks are coming!

From the National Post:
Quote:

Glenn Clark, head coach of the National Lacrosse League's Toronto Rock, will not face assault charges in connection with an incident involving an opposing player following a game last month.

Rock officials said Tuesday that the charges against Clark had been dropped.

"Our organization is happy that this ordeal has been put behind us," Mike Kloepfer, director of lacrosse operations for the Rock, said in a news release. "We were confident that once the facts became known, the charges against Glenn Clark would be withdrawn. We would like to thank Glenn's lawyer, Gary Clewley, for his professional representation in this matter."

From NLL.com:

The National Lacrosse League announced today that the league has lifted the suspension of Toronto Rock Head Coach Glenn Clark. Clark had been suspended on January 17th for his role in a post-game incident occurring on January 11th following the Toronto Rock's loss to the Minnesota Swarm in Toronto. In lifting the suspension, the league issued a fine to Clark for his role in the incident. The lifting of the suspension is conditional upon Clark avoiding violating terms of a probationary period which runs through the 2009 season as well as certain conditions for the duration of his NLL career.
