The Yanks are coming!

The Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans have agreed in principle on a trade for suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones.

The agreement, which was first reported by ESPN's Ed Werder, was confirmed to The Associated Press by both teams. No terms had been filed with the NFL office, which already had closed for the day.

Sources tell Werder that Dallas will send its fourth-round pick (the 126th overall) in Saturday's draft to the Titans for Jones.

There are also conditions attached to the trade related to Jones being reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and how much he plays for the Cowboys. If he plays a significant amount of time in 2008, the Titans will get an additional pick from the Cowboys in 2009.

If he doesn't get reinstated by the NFL, the Titans will send an undisclosed 2009 draft pick back to the Cowboys.

I think the only reason the Titans made this deal was to get that draft pick. And to get the guy who may not play off the team...but if all they're getting is a draft pick, then I think that was their goal.

The Yanks are coming!

When the Cowboys traded for Pacman Jones, they weren't even sure that he would be able to play in 2008. Following a meeting between Jones and Commissioner Goodell, they still aren't sure.

The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Jones met with Goodell last week to discuss the former's status in the league. Jones has been suspended since 2007 for numerous run-ins with the law, including a shooting and a gambling debt; he played no games in 2007. Goodell had previously stated that he would make a decision before the summer training camps. Time will tell what happens.

At long last, Pacman Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have what they want.

Mostly.

Commissioner Roger Goodell has partially reinstated Jones. What does that mean? It means he can participate in team activities and use team facilities, but at this point he still can't actually play for the team. This does, however, open the door for a full reinstatement before the season begins if he keeps out of trouble.

Adam "Pacman" Jones has been cleared to play for the Dallas Cowboys this season.

The cornerback-kick returner was suspended all last season, when he was with the Tennessee Titans, because of an accumulation of arrests and legal problems. He was traded to the Cowboys in April, then was allowed in June by commissioner Roger Goodell to join the team in training camp and in preseason games.

Goodell, however, was still waiting to decide whether to let Jones play in the regular season. That news came Thursday, hours before Dallas' final preseason game.

"It feels good man, you know, to get a second chance and I just have to take advantage of it," Jones told The Dallas Morning News. "First and foremost, I don't want to let myself down, definitely my little girl down. I'm thankful for [Cowboys owner] Jerry [Jones], the fans in Dallas and my teammates for believing in me. I need to keep doing what I've been doing to get reinstated, staying with myself and my teammates and staying away from those knuckleheads and just stay focused."
