The Yanks are coming!

From the New England Patriots:
Source. From ESPN:
Full article. The Patriots were planning on bringing in Chris Simms and Tim Rattay for workouts today, presumably to find a backup for Matt Cassel. There are no reports of a possible Culpepper-Moss reunion. Edited by WeatherManNX01, Monday Sep 8 2008, 02:40 PM.

WEEI is reporting that the Patriots did not bring in any other quarterbacks for workouts. |

Culpepper retired last week...I'm willing to bet he's going to reconsider. Let's see....one season with a contender, as a starter, and a team that would be willing to have you...sounds like a good fit. |

Except that no team is willing to sign him. Hence his retirement. |

Yeah, the one thing about Cougar's idea is that he's assuming the Patriots would want Culpepper, and I'm not sure that's a given, even if he hadn't retired. |

He's got the resume, while he doesn't appear to be the QB he once was, why not send him to a workout then? I have no clue if they're interested but unless they believe in Cassel, they should look for another QB to add. Edited by Cougar, Monday Sep 8 2008, 08:42 PM.

BB has stated definitively: Cassel is our quarterback for the rest of the season. They were talking on WEEI today that they aren't going to bring in someone else to start, because this isn't baseball where you can just add guys to a team. Each team has its own system that takes time to learn. And since they're not bringing in Rattay or Simms, then they're not going to bring in anyone. Besides, they've got O'Connell if they need him. They're hoping they don't, but they've got him. |

Fair enough. Cassel...hmmm....well the team around him is good. |

He certainly didn't look bad in the game against KC. And Tom Brady will likely be on the sidelines helping BB & Co. and giving Cassel some advice. And you know, BB wouldn't have kept Cassel around if he wasn't that good. ESPN is saying that Rattay and Simms did actually show up for workouts but were sent back without doing anything. |

I'm sure Bill will have to go back to the good old Patriot way of winning :P
