Major League Lacrosse’s Bayhawks franchise has done everything to explore the right location within its lacrosse-rich territory. First it was the best three options in Baltimore (Johns Hopkins, the Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium and Towson University); then it was the Washington, D.C. area (Georgetown University in the District and George Mason University in Northern Virginia).

Inside Lacrosse has learned the next step will be a point in between: Annapolis, Md.’s Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, site of Washington’s July 19, 2008 game against Boston that drew 5,792 fans.

“This is the best venue in our region,” Bayhawks president and co-owner Jeff Harvey says. “It’s a destination for lacrosse. This is something we wanted as much as [Navy] did. They really came to us and said, ‘we’d like you to play here.’”

Harvey says the Bayhawks, playing with the same name, will aim to play all of their games at Navy at 7 p.m. on Saturday nights. In addition to trying to play an MLL game in conjunction with the NCAA Quarterfinals next May, Harvey said Navy will help promote ticket sales at Mids basketball and lacrosse games this year, selling through their own ticket office.
