We are closing in to another college football season, now under a month away. ESPN's College GameDay will be returning, in an expanded 3 hour format. The first will be broadcast on ESPNU with Erin Andrews as host. The final 2 hours move to ESPN with Chris Fowler taking over his usual role. I'm not really sure about the 3 hours thing. At times it seemed like 2 hours was over doing it. But that's not the discussion here. The question is...where will the GameDay crew go? After viewing the coaches' poll rankings, the first one that jumped at me for week 1 was Boise State vs. Virginia Tech. Unfortunately, that game is on Labor Day, so it is extremely unlikely GD would go there. Even so, that should be fun to watch. Louisiana State vs. North Carolina is the ABC primetime game. In addition, it's the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, where GD has been the past few seasons. So that seems like a very strong candidate. The only other one I see as a possibility for week 1 is Oregon State vs. Texas Christian from Cowboys Stadium. For week 2, I see Penn State at Alabama and Miami (FL) at Ohio State as nice matchups (and they say the Big Ten doesn't schedule tough opponents). PSU/Bama is scheduled later, so I give that one a slight edge, but it could really go either way. |

They will start with the Chik-Fil-A Kickoff Game, LSU vs. North Carolina from Atlanta. This will be their third straight season there and fourth in five years. http://www.espnmediazone3.com/us/2010/08/three-hour-college-gameday-to-open-2010-season-sept-4-from-atlanta-for-lsu-vs-north-carolina/ |

Week 2 will be at Penn State/Alabama. For week 3, a couple jump out a me. There's Georgia Tech/North Carolina, but with GameDay already having gone to a UNC game, I doubt they'd go to a 2nd one so soon after the first. Arkansas/Georgia appears to be another good one, but it does not look like it will be on any of the Disney networks, so that might not happen either. Both of those are at noon, which is another drawback. There are 2 that will be on ABC primetime: Texas/Texas Tech and Notre Dame/Michigan State. A late game on ESPN features Iowa/Arizona. This one is tough to pick, but I'll say Texas/Texas Tech. Wouldn't be surprised if they use this week to go to a lower division game, or a non-BCS league rivalry, something of that nature. |

Texas/Texas Tech would seem to me to be the choice. |
