Epic Failure
|
Once upon a time, there was a planet called as Syumo. In its early times, it was quite the paradise: There were no wars, darkness, nor sin. Order was maintained by seven goddesses, six of which represented elements, the other representing love. In unison, they ruled, each accompanied by a personal servant, which they called messengers. Together, the fourteen beings existed peacefully in a small land located above the earth-- Paradise. Aside from caring for the goddesses, messengers also offered companionship, and for one particular goddess, love. Her name was Hoshiko, the Goddess of Love, and he was simply Luke. The two beings were inseparable, tied together through a relationship time could not decay. Alas, all good things come to an end, for such is the way of life. For the pair of dotting lovers, the end of their relationship, and Luke’s life, came on the planet’s 100th birthday. Trouble rose early in the day, sometime around noon, if one were to be exact. Kinomi, the Goddess of Light, had noticed her own messenger, Chastity, missing throughout the early morning, into the late afternoon. Worry was quick to fester, for messengers, being linked to the goddesses, could not stray far for too long; they needed the powers of their appointed goddesses to survive. Remembering such, Kinomi did not hesitate to ask Luke to find the missing youth. Luke complied without question, and in an instant he was gone. With time an issue, he did not bother to inform his beloved; she would understand, after all, he was sure. Hours swept by without sign of either messengers, and eventually, the news reached Hoshiko’s ears. Panic, mixed with fear, overcame all logic she had to offer. It was too risky to sent another into the mess, or so the remaining agreed. With tensed muscles they waited, and waited. Time slinked by, one minute by the next, until finally three weeks had passed. All hope was relinquished, and both goddesses fell into a fatal depression. For a week, neither spoke nor showed themselves. That is, not until the initial missing messenger, Chastity, appeared. Bathed in bloodied wounds and shredded clothes, she collapsed at the entrance. Suddenly, the already known was confirmed: Luke was dead. According to Chastity, she fall victim to a league of ruthless demons, ones starving for power. They experimented ways to extract her powers from her body, though all ended in pain, and failure. It was two weeks before Luke found her, weakened, abused, and in no condition to plan escape or attempt it. Unable to accept the situation, Luke attempted to free the female himself, though without success. Instead of retrieving the Light Messenger, he also became a prisoner of the demons. The abuse, and experiments, only increased. Escape seemed impossible, until one day, when the one of the guards became drunk and unconscious. However, with their powers next to nothing, only one would be able to gain freedom. Luke sacrificed himself, keeping watch while Chastity stumbled her way home as fast as she could manage. News of the messenger’s death was spread quickly across the world below, and above. Hoshiko knew instantly, but refused to accept it. Instead, she began to loathe Kinomi with all her being. After an exchange of ruthless blows against the Light Goddess one particular day, Hoshiko departed. It was assumed she went to something that was like Hell, one she personally created. While there, she made a deal with a sinister spirit, one created from her own emotions. In return for letting the spirit inhabit her, she would be given ultimate powers capable of endless suffering. The spirit depicted the ways she could inflict pain on people, such as stealing their souls with sweet promises of a false paradise. There was also the method of using those without souls, her would-be-minions, to give the people of Syumo their darkest desires. She agreed instantly, and warped into the Goddess of Shadows. With her ‘rebirth’ came beings called ‘shadows‘, beings that were once living, until their souls were stolen or their blood tainted. Feeding off the dark emotions of hearts and minds, they grew, only while their goddess continue to steal the souls of all she could. The remaining goddesses attempted to stop her, but the shadows were too powerful to fight. They decided to use their powers to seal off their floating paradise, to protect themselves until their powers had grown. Yet, their shield was little more than a prison without means of escape. With few options, they offered two last gifts to the people below: Creatures of their own creation, and some of their own elemental powers. For two-thousand years, little headway was made on either side. That is, until Hoshiko managed to break the goddesses’ shield. With aid of an unknown poison, she created a tear in energy barrier. It was a battle that lasted only a day; the ending took place at sunset. Kinomi, Goddess of Light, was the only one left standing as fallen Hoshiko neared. On the ground were her sisters, each wounded and on the verge of death. Already their messengers had fallen, far earlier in the battle. There was no hope for survival as things were, so the female did the only thing she could. From her lips passed a chant, one which caused the goddesses’ bodies to fall lifelessly to the ground, if not already there. From their bodies came their elemental powers, each becoming a floating massive sphere of blinding light, before heading down towards Syumo. They left behind the memories of the goddesses, and the bodies they had possessed, only to take on their own forms among the citizens with hopes of survival fresh in their minds. The battle between good and evil has yet to end as a result, and will only continue onward for future generations until the new holders of the pure elements are found and destroyed, or until Hoshiko leaves the given world, her death finally taking place. Though all the while, simple innocents are forced into the mess, seeing as such is the tale of Illusions of the Heart.... |
