Rags cried out, droppig ehr wrist and pulling away when she scremed, hands clapped pretectivly over his ears as he eyed her carefully. Aye, Trouble. feeling better, I'm guessing. Dak grinned in a grating manner, daring even this as he began thinking of a plan. He'd have to force Rags awake when she was coherent enough to at least give decent intructions, or directions. "She's not going to be alright if I leave her here... Becuase I cna't help her here, can I, Dak?" He sighed, shakign his head as he reseated himself next to ehr, trying to think through the dense fog of what his next plan of action should be. To wait was painful, but at the moment the only thing he could do. If he got lost with her like this out there, she was sure to die. |

Aerial remained deeply asleep, her breath fluttering her shirt. Her long lashes, still damp from the rain, formed stars to frame her eyes. She looked almost peacefull. Unaware of the turmoil around her, she slept for an hour, two. She finally awoke, still numb from the painkillers which almost ended her life. She didn't make a move, for fear of bringing back the pain, but her mind immediatly snapped to attention, examining for exits, and cursing herself into oblivion for allowing herslef to go out, as if she had had any controll. |

Rags had dozed off once or twice, but was now fully alert, staring at her. She was... Unhappy. And he couldn't blame her. he believed it was the pain causing that look of disgust, and said nothing. But instead quietly asked what was the nearest city or town, and in which direction. "I don't think you'll have a very good time of survivng this if you stay here... I'm sorry..." He felt repulsive, having to turn to others for help. That he couldn't do it on his own, help her that is, and bring her back from certian doom imposed by the wound. "And I don't wnat to let you travel alone, for saftey reasons... so..." |

Aerial gave a slight nodd, still a little bit woozy. "So... what?" she asked. "I'm sorry, but my mind... isn't so clear right now." The irony in her voice was parched dry. "You'll have to explain a little better than that. What are you goin to do?" |

"I-I... I don't want to see you... See you die. Do you know where the nearest city is, Air? And we can go there... We can go there and get you help." WHat the hell? You sound like a baby. The ruder side was coming to life, shoving and pushing. "I don't know what to do..." He whined as he burie dhis face in his hands, shaking his head. Dak groaned, a losing battle, how nice. Rags now was liable to do something stupid and reckless that would killt eh both of them- Aerial, and rags himself. |

Instead of answering, she closed her eyes and leaned back against the wall. In a high tone, light, but full of sorrow, she sang quietly. "But there's no comfort in the waiting room, Just waiting places, spaces for bad news. And then the nurse comes round, and everyone lifts their heads. But I'm thinking of what Sarah said. Love is watching someone die. So who's going to watch me die?" Then she told him, in a low voice, how to get to a small town, not far off. But even as she told him how to leave her, her eyes pleaded with him to stay. "So who's gonna watch me die?" |

"I'm not leaving! I'm not Air! You're going with me, and I'm going to be there no matter what!" His voice dropped, he had lifte dhis face from his hands with a frightened, hurt look about him. "Air, I'm not going to let you die, and I'm not going to leave you..." He continued in a low, raspy voice, cheeks flushed in an ashamed manner. "I'm sorry, but I can't." You can't keep them all alive... Dak bitterly reminded, though Rags had now way of knowing what was caged in the tightlipped blockade's mind. "But I can try, I can try Air. And that's all that I can do, and I want you to believe me, and trust me,a nd work with me, because I'm not going to be alright if you're dead,a dn I did nothing. A soilder is born to defend and preserve life of those that they are bound to by word or blood. I have nothing else left to me. There is no need for me, and I am useless. Useless, at least until you're gone. You think tha tyou're the one who needs, or wnats me to stay, then you're wrong. I need you to stay." He paused, placing a hand over the pocket containing ehr note. "Please, Air, at least let me try to liv eup to my removed rank." Rags pleaded, placing the other hand lightly on ehr knee before tuckign ti back to his lap. |

She looked him in the eye, her gray eyes sharp, despite the pain. Suddenly, she pulled him down, and kissed him, hard on the lips. She came away flushed, surprised, and worried about how he would take it. "I'll never leave you," she murmured. "Not untill the day I die. C'mon." |

He seemed to be a deer in the headlights at this, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape. Blinking he shook that off and looked at ehr curiously. A faint smile closed his mouth as he nodded. And that won't be soon, he replied int eh back of his mind to her saying not until the day she died, would she leave him. "Just a... I..." He nodded again, head down as he stood up, face a deep shade of red. He grabbed the harness, dragigng it away from the door and selecting a pair of gold pruning shears coated in dull, chipped green paint, tuckign them into teh waistband of his pants. He moved towards Aerial again. "I can carry you until you feel well enough to wlak." He mumbled, kneeling before her and shifting uneasily to make the position of the shears shift into a more comfortable, less jabbing position on his hip. |

She shook her head, and gritted her teeth as she stood up slowly. Her pale skin had turned the brightest shade of red imaginable. "I'll walk." She took a few steps, but stumbled and clung to him. "Or I won't." |

rags had stood up on cue with her, instantly shooting an arm out when she began to lose her balence to catch her. Shyly he smiled, leaning his head near her shoulder a moment before shaking himself and grinning empathetically at her. "Come on. I don't mind. Compared to all of those things, you're light. I probably won't even notice you msot of the time, making everything all the quicker." He had nodded to his harness of monsterous machinery. He knelt beside her, using one hand pressed intot eh dirt and tiled floor to support himself. "Come on." He nodded to her making sure that she could still stablize herself with his help if need be. "Can he read the letter yet, Trouble?" Dak asked with a smug voice through his steel teeth tightly gritted together in a grin that related a boyish smugness, though seemed to hold a mechanical malice he could not shake due to teh vicious, shark-like appearance of his jaws themselves. "Or are you recalling it for fear of ill worded love notes?" Rags glanced at him, confused. He couldn't remember the note at the moment, though it was in his pocket. He offered a confused grin and shrugged, still trying to decide what Dak ahd been talking about. |

Aerial scowled at Dak, her eyes ice cold daggers. "What I said still stands." She winced with an exquisite pain as she accepted Rags' help. "Thanks," she murmured through gritted teeth. She tried to smile, but it looked more like a grimace. Her cheeks still colored, she shut her eyes for a moment, opened them again, and said "Let's go." |

Once convinced that she was not in direct danger of toppling over if he moved, he lurched up to stand again, using both hands to make sure she did not fall off by supporting her legs just above the knees. Carefully as possible he moved for the door, glancing out and poking his head beyond the threshhold into the light rain. Sighing sadly he set out into the city in teh direction of the closest city, paying careful attention to Aerial and monitering her condition as best he could with his hearing alone along with touch, mildly aware of her breathing. Before they had left, Dak had grumbled something about Aerial needing to lighten up a little to his jokes before falling silent. |

Aerial bent her head under the rain. How she longed to be in the sky again! But alas, no. "It should only be a few miles," she whispered into his ear,her voice worn and hoarse from the amount of talking she had done. A look to kill at Dak, and Air once again rested her head on Rags' shoulder. Ah, what a way to spend a weekend. Dying on your beloved's shoulder. Air gave a sad smile. Well, she could have been dying alone... |

"Will we try the door next time?" Rags asked, voice quiet once she had given him teh tidbit of information concerning the distance. Dak simply shook this off, limp agian to try and speed up this journey, though with every stepp that Rags took, he began to hope for this girl's death more and more. --- Much later, as Rags had moved slower than he could have to cover the ground, the sky was atleast two hours dark, and the rain had all but abated completely. He ahd kept his mind off of Aerial's condition by playing word games wth himself in his mind, having stopped only briefly during the trip to make sure Aerial had not died or fallen asleep. He did not trust sleep, even though it was vital. Now he stood jsut within the city limits, glaring at the dully lit streets, tail flickering in an irritated way as he moved for the nearest home. He stopped though, once more to wake Aerial if she ahd fallen asleep, and to give her a moment to stretch if she desired now that they had reached their destination. "Air?" |
