The lack of hustle and bustle of the city had a relaxing affect to it. A simple elegance that nothing else could touch. It seemed like everyone knew everyone else in the town- if there was a new-comer, it was easy to tell- no exceptions. The sun above conquered the clouds and would shine its heavenly light below. Shadows and those in them disappeared except for certian spots dotting Rethus.

In the soft shade there would be one misfit of the town, tending to the wounds placed upon the skin hours- maybe days before hand. Dry blood caked over the burn wound to the extent the real threat- a bullet wound- was barely recognizable. Still, little by little and very slowly the wound would be sanitized and wrapped up.
The injured being rested her back and head on the cool surface of an abandoned building. Bangs of amethyst color slipped away from aquamarine eyes with a soft motion of a delicate hand.

"She really got me that time..." Memories flash-flood into the being- a young woman if you will- which caused the closing of her own eyes. Clearer images of the recent 'duel' and the pain she endured then and now. "Who knew... protecting someone could bring out so much rage. Can't move my own arm now."

The dark fabric of her clothing began to feel painful out of the shade, so the young woman scooted her legs closer to her and more importantly, out of the sun. She didn't exactly pick the greatest day to wear black. Though her clothes were light- a black corset-like tube top, loose around the legs, black cotton pants and the not-so-easy to stand high-heels to match. The only thing that may not be considered dark, was a brown belt around the waist with an attatched pouch, which held who knows what with it's odd rectangular shape.

Another feature that would strike people as odd, would be point of the ears. Not normally round and curled, but pointed and small- almost like an elf's, but not quite. A half-elf maybe? The slight tan of the skin made it seem only slightly plausible; but, the oddness of her haircolor- a dark purple, amethyst- gave it headway. Though who could really tell? The aura around her told people not to bother or go around her, there wasn't a possibility of checking.

It's so easy to destroy and condemn.
Do you ever wonder if it's justified?

Teague examined the city from his resting place through half closed eyes, shaded by his hand. Damn, it was bright here! He pulled at his shirt, shut his grey-green eyes. That sun - he wondered how the natives did it. He himself was from Yino, a bit more secluded, and not half as bright.

Slowly, he dragged himself to his feet. "C'mon," he muttered to himself, "Can't stop here." He continued down along the thin brick streetway, a preveously unheard of marvel to Teague. He found himself constantly wondering how the workers had the attention span to lay oh-so many bricks.

Finaly, he reached the center of town. Teague dropped his pack, and collapsed under one of the trees growing in the triangular green. "Thank Dia!" He rolled onto his back, sprawled out in the half-light of the shade. Oh, it felt good to stop for a while. Affter a minute of bliss, he sat up against the tree to examine his surroundings. A few small picnics went on in the distance. A few children chased each other. A couple were glued to each others faces. "They should not do that in public," he murmured, eyeing them dissaprovingly. But the one that really caught his eye was a young woman, probably about his age, curled up under a small oak. He stood with a grunt, walked over. He brushed curly brown hair out of his eyes, and kneeled before her. "Scuse, madame, but would you require assitance?" He asked, his voice lilting musically.

The young woman let her head go back into normal position, to see who wanted to bother her today. Unintentionally, she felt... annoyed. "No, I think I've got this wrapped up." Oh ouch. Please do not do that again. "I think with a nearly paralyzed arm, I'm doing quite fine."

Sentimental thinking turned into a snapish feel, which she'd rather not have. "Look, I appreciate thegesture, but I'm-" She cut off when a thick wave of pain rushed over, forcing her to flinch in pain. "I'm okay. Really."

"No, I think I've got this wrapped up."

Teague felt his eyes grow wide in amazment at the extent of thw wound. It might have been a bullet wound, but surely fired at point blank, with gunpowder burns. And deeply infected. "Goddess Santo! Signora, your badly injured." The Italian flew easily from his lips. A worried frown creased his frown. "Please, let me help you."

"My, aren't we religious? Listen, there isn't anything that can be done right now." With a free hand, she held the wound, new blood spilling out onto the bandages with the slightest touch. A person can't die in peace, can they? Well, of course they can't, and defiantly not this one, since she wasn't going to die just yet. "If I have to die, I'd rather not think about it in my last hours. Name's Ace, and yours?"

"Teague Iyer," he murmured, the accent sounding soft in the foreign name. "In my language, it means 'Poet'." With a slight smile, he bent over her injury. "This is quite severe. You won't die, but you'll have to act fast, to keep the use of your hand. How did you come by this?" He looked into her bright eyes curiously. What a strange woman! The hair, the eyes, the ears. Maybe she was an elf. But weren't elves pacifists? There's no way this wound was an accident.

"Mm, quite extravagant." It would seem that this 'Teague' fellow intended to help her, if he couldn't 'heal' her. In that case, he deserved some kindness and respect, which Ace would now give. "If you must know, a 'friend' of mine and I, had a small fight. What was friendly fire turned into the wound you see here." It was partially a lie, and partially truth, which suited her just fine. "Move quickly eh? That's a little hard right now, I'm afraid."

Teague gave her a small smile, and bent over the wound. He poured water over it from a small flask hanging at his side, and rubed away the dried blood with his finger. When he was done, he stood up looking down at the wound. "Much better," he said, though it, in fact, looked worse. He smiled at her cheerily. "Now we can get on to real work." He bent back over the wound, closing it gently with two long fingers, his eyes shut in deep concentration. First the tips of his fingers, then his whole hand began to glow. Still, he held the wound. Finally, her skin aquired the needed golden glow. Teague sat down heavily. "Oy vey, Signora, that was a much worse injury than it first looked." A thin pink line marked where the injury had been. "Tell me truthfully, where did that wound come from."

Ace shifted uncomfortably for a moment, after all, a total and complete stranger has come to aid her. What's more, the form of magic was a less... tamed in her eyes, compared to her comforts. During the shift, she had grabbed something from a pouch, and tucked it in the space between Ace's arm and his hand. The thing was a card, decorated in colors that represented what could be elements.
Ace spoke a soft word, 'Enhance', and the card disappeared with a similar glow to that of Teague's. The pain increased momentarily, then lessened as time progressed and the spell took into effect. "I've got tricks of my own; though, healing is not one of them. As you can tell."

"What treachery is this?" Teague asked, his eyes glittering with surprise. He glanced into her eyes, and fell backwards heavily. "Mm, honestly, did you plan that." He lay back onto the soft grass, threw an arm over his eyes. He lay like that for a moment, and sat up again, one finger in the air, as if about to make a point. Teague's brow furrowed in concentration, and his finger gave off a small amount of light, but then faded into nothing. He tried again and again, but nothing more than a faint glow. "Ah, Signora, you've really knocked me."

Twisting her newly 'revived' arm, Ace decided it was better than it being paralyzed despite it stinging with the extra energy let loose by the card. "Hn? You think I purpousely drained that magical energy from you?" She let out a small laugh with the end of the words. "If that was my plan, it would have failed miserably. At this rate, I won't be able to use my 'magical' abilities for a long while."
If her sister had been there, she'd probably get a smack over the head for not being proper; but, those memories made her smile and remember. "Mm, sorry and thank you for helping me."

"And quite a fighter, at that. Of course, you are most welcome." Teague blinked his emerald eyes slowly, trying to sort over all that had happened. He lay back once more, and this time did not sit up. "Scuse, madame, but are you an elf?" The question held deeper meaning. His grandfather had been killed-murdered- by an elf. To heal one would be breaking an age-old tabu.

Ace layed her hands under her head, and pressed it against them. "Elf? Not fully. That part of my family... If you'll excuse me for a moment, can go to hell for all I care." She did not say anything more about them, well not now anyway. "Does it bother you?" Questions upon questions, yes?

A looked at her, his gaze sad and longing. "My grandfather was a much loved member of our family," he started, his voice getting higher and faster the more he spoke. "One day, he went down to the bar. There was a ...fight. My gradfather was in his twenties at the time. He was young and fit, but wasn't able to lay more than a scratch on the man he was fighting. Little did he realize the man was an elf. Over fifty years later," here he choked, and had to stop. "Fifty years later, the elf came back, but my grandfather was old. When he was attacked, he didn't fight back..." He trailed off, unsure of how to finish. "Well..."

Ace closed her eyes in respect of the death of his grandfather. "You don't need to finish, I can guess what happened." She removed her hands from the back of her head and leaned forward to him. "You don't have to worry about me raising an army against you, and for your conscious, I have more human blood in me than elven blood. Besides that, I came from a completely different planet."
She dug into the pouch again, holding up cards. The cards were similiar to the ones before, though each had different markings on them. One of fire, another earth and yet another light.
