Ace sighed, put her hands behind her head and closed one eye. The aquamarine color still hadn't faded from before, and now her amethyst hair fell on her faces and into her eyes. "I know, Teague, and that isn't the problem. The problem is, I'm fresh out of magic so I can't show you how it's done. I can only give you an idea, and I don't want you to hurt yourself." With a hand she took out another card; but, this beared the symbol of water instead of fire and earth like the others had been. "Have your fingertips on the middle of the card, wait until you can feel the energy drain from you and into the card. You'll know, when you feel a tingle in your hand, throw the card at the desired object or person and shout it's spell." Ace let go of the card she it entered his lap, and placed the same hand under her head once more. "Each card has it's on spell, obviously though. Light is enhancing, dark is dehancing, and the basics elements bring out their form. Mix two cards, which drain your energy faster, gets you better spells. Let's say I mixed fire and light together, that'd make on heck of a nasty explosion. Doing three cards one after another without activating the first two, is very dangerous. I wouldn't suggest that unless it was a life or death situation and you still had most of your energy." |

"Are they similar to the capabilities of the gifted folk, like mine?" An important question. Teagues training was much advanced, and if it wasn't similar to the functions he performed for his own magiks, it was unlikely he would be able to chanel his energy differently. He smiled at nothing in particular, let out a low, long whistle. A mourning dove called back to him. 'WhOO whoo, whoo.' He turned back to the girl. "Have you ever heard the story of the mourning dove?" |

The question may have been a little... unclear to her at first and the answer was still not reachable. Ace decided to take a detour and give the answer she knew, at least was correct. "The cards need a certian type of energy, so not everyone can use or make them. If you don't have this type of energy, the card just won't ignite with the energy. It used to be that the cards were poorly made and the person, who didn't have the right energy, would try to use them and they would back-fire on them. But don't worry, mine won't do that, try it and see for yourself. The only way to for sure tell." Ace opened both her eyes and looked at him when he asked a very unrelated question for what they were doing. "Er... no. I haven't. What is it?" |

Teague smiled charmingly, and began on his tale. "Once upon a time, a man and woman were deeply in love. But the woman was very beautiful, and attracted a lot of attention. Including that of the Sultan. So, one day, the Sultan asked her hand in marrige, and since he was the Sultan, she was forced to say yes. So she lived with the man for many years, all the while dreaming of her lost love. When, finally, the Sultan died, the woman was quite old, and none so atractive as she was in her youth. She searched and searchhed for her love, but never found him. She searched for many years untill she fell ill, and was confined to her bed. Then, one day, a man came to visit her. 'Who are you,' she asked of him. 'Why, don't you recognize me?' he asked in surprise. 'I was your fiancee, before the Sultan took you.' With a startled look on her face, the woman died. But the Gods transformed her soul into a dove, so she could once again search for her love. Now she calls 'Who, who, who are you?' to anyone she meets, in case it is her lover in disguise." |

Ace listened as she had before. She ran a hand through her hair and brushed it out of the way. "It seems you have many tales. Some with bitter sweet endings, and others that could've had a happy ending, but it was never to be. Isn't that right? Still, they're very good and you do them perfectly~" |

"That's not true." he said with a smile. "I have not yet told you my favorite story." He began, with a slow voice. "It all began with a book. A man named John checked it out from the library. The story was good, but what really caught his attention was the deep, insightfull notes in the margins. As he read the book, he unwittingly fell in love with the note-maker. At the end of the book, he found her name, and with much effort, an address. So he sent her a letter. For many years, the two were penpals of sorts. They fell in love with each other without even seeing a picture. So, one day, the arranged a meeting. 6:00, Traflagar Square, London. Her letter read, 'You will recognize me by the red rose pinned to my lapel. When he got there, he caught the eye of a beautiful young woman. Long blond hair, and bright blue eyes. Beautiful as summer. He failed to notice she wasn't wearing a rose. Then she moved away, and behind her was an old woman. Probably out of her forties, greying hair, more than a little overweight. He felt as if her were torn in two. Between the young woman whose body he loved, and the woman he loved for her mind. With one final look at the girl, he approached the woman. 'Ma'mm,' he said, 'I am Liutenent John Reese, and I would like to escort you to dinner.' The woman smiled at him. 'That young girl told me you'd say that,' she said. 'She also told me to tell you that if you askedme to dinner, she's waiting in the restraunt across the street. She just begged me to wear this rose.'" Teague gave her his most charming smile. "She wanted to make sure she's still love him, even if she wasn't beautiful. He passed her test." |

Soemthing popped into Ace's head, that she dashed away in the next instant. That's the thing she needed last to say or do. "I have to say, I enjoyed that one. A romance that didn't end in death, for me, that's a happy ending." She slipped her hand back behind her head and nodded, with a smile. A smile that hadn't really been used for real in a while. |

Teaugue smiled, his emerald eyes sparked. "Glad you did. My presence has seemed to bring more of the opposite end of the spectrum, recently." The smile faded, his brows wrikled over troubled eyes. His face looked much older, the worry lines were clear, though he was only a teen. "I seem to have a knack for making people cry..." he murmured absently, thinking of his last visit to Rethus. |

“Why say that, Teague the great story-teller?” Ace shifted again in what seemed to be either nervousness or discomfort. Either way it went, she felt the need to stand. Slowly and without certainty of her body, considering what she had felt earlier. Upon reaching full height of her rather average stature, Ace found pleasure in the fact that only a small bit of pain ran up her leg. Not so kind was the sting of blood rushing into the veins of her thighs, shins and feet. “Eck. I’ve been sitting too long,” she said almost tenderly to herself. Regaining herself, Ace continued to speak, only this time to Teague. “Feel like walking around a bit? My legs have been like this since morning and they need to be stretched a little, however I’d love your company.” |

Teague smiled again, but this time it looked too plastic, too fake. "Oh, nothing. Of course I'd walk with you." He slowly got to his feet, streched like a cat. "London," he said, going back to his story. "What an odd name. That woman came through a portal, lived here for a long while. Me and her were...good friends... she left through a portal in the Ruins. I didn't know any appeared there anymore. You actually reminded me of her. That's why I told you her story." Then, quieter, so she wouldn't hear. "Beautifull as the day, beautifull as summer, beautiful as herself..." |

Ace caught a hint of the fake in the corner of her eye. She'd recognize it anywhere, after all her 'good' friend had done it with her years ago. Before taking action, she let him stand up and continue his story with the extra words added in. To Ace's delight, her ability to hear continued to be as keen as ever. It's not that she didn't hear what he had said, but didn't want him to know that she did. "A portal huh? That must be quite a trip the portal. Any time or space travel is... a pain to say the least." She discontinued that, as the subject rubbed against old wounds. " Err... I don't suppouse I'll be learning any details anytime soon." Quickening the pace of her walking, Ace strolled ahead of Teague for a few moments. She swiftly turned to face him, with her elegant amethyst hair flowing with her movement. With a delicate touch she pushed a few fingers on Teague's face and pushed up a more realistic smile. "Come now. We can't have that fake smile being so blatantly obvious. It's a touchy subject and you don't have to tell me." Ace made the moment even more odd, as she gave him a real smile of her own. |

"Not t'all," he said, a mock English accent slurring his words with a precise air. "This is the place where I lost my state of virginity, to be blunt." Green eyes sparked with an emerald fire. "Tis also the place where I lost my first, and untill rather recently, only love." The fire in his eyes died down to smoking embers. He reached up a hand, and touched hers against his face. "Untill rather recently." |

Ace halted in mid-step in what would be surprise with the risen foot slowly sliding down back to the Earth. Words dispersed themselves and left Ace at a loss as to what she should say; even the wind was silent in this tender moment. Everything around them seemed to freeze in place, at least to her. Ace's body overflowed with a sudden warmth that she could not control. The rapid beating of her heart made this all so easy and yet so entirely hard. She could not think, everything had halted yet again and only his name rang through her desperate mind. "T-teague..." Stuttered out and yet so gracefull as always. |

Teauge's eyes grew wide in realization of what he had said. With the grace of and old servant, he took a step back, and bowed low, to hide his deepening blush. "Sorry, miss. Shouldn't ha' been so forward." The accent now rang clear, giving away his true home. "Didn't stop t'think. Once a'gain, sorry." He squeezed his eyes shut. Damnit, damnit damnit! Why didn't he remember the accent. Hoping for a quick coverup, he tried again, but covering his voice with the deep Itailian twist failed him miseribly. "Sorry...?" |
