In the abysmal ruins of a destroyed city, something or maybe someone was waiting to be discovered. Yet, the ruins would not yield its prized secret so freely. Complex locks and traps placed in fashions that would be most deadly. Bodies of those who have tried and failed lay scattered about, proving just how dangerous it was.

Why would people dare to go that far into the ruins? Why couldn't they just stick to the houses and beautiful yet destroyed scenery? It is said that the prayer of the people was answered; the savior and protector from the Shadows that inhabit the land befell them in the ruins of Shiruko. No one could let go of this treasure, despite the lack of knowledge of the savior- most people thought it a weapon, armor or an item leftover from the destruction of the Goddesses.

To further this rumor; the treasure of the fallen, as it was named, could be found deep within the temple, the only building that has yet to fall. The lack of jewels and precious metals only seemed to make one more curious, all the other buildings and roads, like the other undestroyed cities, had such decorations. Yet this building did not, and it survived and merely went through the test of time. Rose vines spread their way up and down the outside wall of the temple, leaving the inside untouched. Dust took over much of the inside; statues that were once white now gray with almost dismay.

The statues, carved out of the finest marbles and stone, conveyed the appearance of the Goddesses. Each element lined the wall and that space became their own sanctuary, one in particular- the water goddess- stood out most of all. She seemed to be the center of worship in this particular temple. The statue itself stood close to the center, surrounded by a pool of water, in yet its age was still flowing purely and without fault, no muck or grime. Engraved words of ancient spread across the rim of the pool, the words faded due to the dust and age but still readable.

Many 'entrances' lay scattered around the temple; but, which one was the real one? You must find this yourself. Remember the ancients.

It's so easy to destroy and condemn.
Do you ever wonder if it's justified?

How had he come across this place again? Ah yes, by accident.
Not by accident really. The egg he now cradled protectivly in one hand had been muttering something along the lines of ruins ever since he had obtained it. And so, asking around, he had found that the only ruins to speak of (at least the one that weren't inhabited by Shadows), were here.

"In deed you are a wise little creature." Deemunn murmured, ignoring the faint drone of a headache brought on by using the new ability he'd discovered now in close contact with the starred egg. The egg vibrated with satisfation, warming Deemunn's palms as he stroked the smooth shell absently, glancing around the temple, smiling in a knowing way.
"We are soilders, Little Lycoris." He hushed. The gender of teh egg had come to him soon after he had taken her from that snobby little man behind the desk of the adoption agency. He had named her just in this moment though, Lycoris seeming to fit her starry shell well. "And as soilders, we will face the current situation bravely."

As water was the source of all life in his desert home before, he visited that goddess first, to receive her blessing before facing the traps. Standing before the pool he gazed up at her for a moment before leaning over the rim etched with words, carefully, submerging the egg for a moment, rubbing the shell clean. Pressing the egg to his chest he uttered a word of thanks, using a free hand to dash water over hsi face and cup some to his mouth to drink.
"Lady Water, watch over me and my little Lycoris, and we shall bravely the perils of this temple with intent only to learn what it may hold. If it is your wish to keep it's secrets, then we shall leave with no regret."
Lycoris's shell vibrated with an audible hum to this, agreeing as Deemunn chanced anotehr glance upon teh statue, moving on to the other statues to pray in the same manner before returning to te pool for anotehr drink, this time washing the dust from the rim of the pool and the etched in letters, smoothig his fingers over the grooves.
"Do you know what it says, Lycoris?"

As his hand passed over the words, they rearranged themselves in a manner that those speaking his language could understand. A magical decoder if you will. The words glowing a light blue, "Follow the water that flows for eternity. It flows in only one direction."

Suddenly, depressions filled the floor and parts of the ceiling and walls. The rim around the pool slowly slid into the stone. The water that had once filled the pool filled the depressions, running every which way. Up, down, sideways any direction seemed possible at the moment. The all led to different parts of the temple, doors and stairways. Which was path to take?

Deemunn had taken a step back from the pool as it decoded itself, startled, but not at all scared. He ahd to step to avoid dampening his feet in a depression as it depressed beneath him as he had become distracted watching the water and depressions.
"It flows only in one direction..." Cheching the layout of the directons, he found one that was simply unkinked. It led in a straight line to a wall with a narrow, square doorway.
"It flows in one direction. See Ly? A tricky, brilliant Lady this temple was built to honor, hmm?"
The egg did nothing, it was still with no comment avaliable to the wraith keeper of hers.
Walking beside the straight depression tot eh crack he took teh small egg in one hand, squeezing into the temple just barely, dust from the ancient doorway that was too thin to be entered by most adventurers whom had failed, clotted his nostrils and vision. Takign a moment to rub this away he listened intently for any impending dangers or movment from the temple or perhaps even creatures that dwelled here.

A loud rumble made itself known when heat was felt. The walls suddenly start to cave in on the duo. The spiderwebs that had formed were ripped apart, and as the dust unsettled and floated around, the color of blood was seen on the walls.
One would suggest to get out of there, immeadiatly. The water goddess did have mercy, and the gears in the door had stuck. THe exit from impending doom was clear.

The rumble had begun once he had cleared his eyes, feeling a slight dismay as he once more turned on the door. "Wrong."

The egg vibrated this time. She ahd known something of thisbefore, hence her not answering.
Deemunn sighed, quickly exiting and returnign to teh fountian, crouching near it in deep contemplation. Runs in only one way...

Pressing his fingers into the water filled depression he attempted answering again. Science was not a main foucus in his studies as a child. But he had met with the Persian lady before her death. She had learned much due to her rank as a servant to a sultan's tutor. Science, was her favorite subject to speak upon, and their final conversation came to him agian. She was showing him the theory of a downward force with vases and water in the quaint court yard granted ot teh captives as a recreation place.

"See? It may run left or right..." She poured water from the vase into his hand, where it ran in all directions into the pool again. "But it always returns to the pool. Do you understand?"
"Not particulary." He joked. She ahd died on bad terms with him for this reason alone. The guards at once appeared after she had yelled at him for being such an dunce, like all Spartans, at which point he had splashed her, believing it to be a game.

"Down?" He glanced down at the ground, feeling rather upset by having to dwell in that segment of his past. Where was down? He glanced around, biting his bottom lip. Glancing at the depressiosn agian, he refued to follow any of them until it had become absolutely clear to him where it was he was to go. he did not want to be a 'typical Spartan' again,a dn thistime earn his deatha t the hand of an impatient goddess.

A certian line of flow rushed along a path that ran towards the back of the temple, before plummeting down into absymal darkness. Near that miniature waterfall, was a spiral staircase that wrapped around the water similiar to a snake. This staircase had not been there before? Patience is the key to many things, the rumble did not only come from the walls in the other room, but here. Think of it as a teaser, as you go into a wrong entrance, the real entrance opens up; though it would've opened up anyway, if he had just came over.

The egg buzzed in a horribly impatient manner.
"Calm, Ly." He ordered in an equally impatient tone. The last dieing echos of teh rumbling, and the dampened trickle of water dropping into the distance. "See?"
Although, he wasn't quite so calm now either, he still felt the need to hush the harsh buzz the little snake growing int eh egg had given him. She replied with a high pitched hum instead, before going silent and still.

Followign his ears, Deemunn came upon the drop off point and the staircase. inspecting this staircase he testd the first step with one foot before deciding it safe and taking the first steps down, stopping to press the egg close to his abdomen before continuing down into the dark, around and aroudn teh water so many times agian, he had stopped counting.

The steps were amazingly stable, despite the lack of connection to anything solid. Floating steps if you will. Unlike the room above, the circular dropdown of a room was not covered in dust or plants. It seemed almost new. Yet the technology and way that it was built was of past ages, and it was underneath the temple. Maaagic.
The stairs would continue for a time, until reaching bottom. The light up above was now a pinpoint size. As soon as the first step down on the ground was taken, the walls suddenly lit up with a magical light that came from... the water that rushed along the walls. Ahead there was a metaphorical fork in the pathway, it split into three paths. One going straight, another left, and finally a right. Each one was lit up, but each seemed just as clear as the other.

Letters appeared in the water, brighter and lighter than the light itself. "If all oceans are lakes, and all lakes are seas, then all oceans are definitely seas. If true, proceed right. If false, proceed left. If neither, proceed straight. "

Deemunn's first steps from the floating staircase, into the room that triggered the glow of the water set him on a cautious, wary nerve. But he continued further, reaching the three way fork of paths. Glancing about he prepared to risk his new ability not working before cathcing sight of the glowing words forming the riddle.

'You're a blockhead, like all Spartans!'
'No I'm not! Calm down!'
'You two! Come with us.' A guard stepped up, taking the woman's wrist and pulling her close to him, the other guard yanked Deemunn up by his wrist.
'Simply war fodder. A waste of my time and eff-'
'I said shutup!' The guard had clapped his free hand over her mouth after sheathing his sword.

God... Bitter memories, brought on by your temple, Lady Water. Deemunn groaned mentally, inspecting the riddle now.
He was confused at first, by if it meant to answer with the riddle's provided information, or to answer with the truth of the information.

He decided to take the riddle's information.
He turned Right, checking the room agian with a dark pit of dread growing in his stomach.
The memories were becoming terribly violent, and he had a feeling that his friend's anger about him being such a sterotypical Spartan were all too correct, and he was walking into a trap set up by a goddess whom had expected a smarter adventurer.

The sound of massive rushing water seemed to grow nearer and nearer as he continued along the path. No traps so far, no arrows shooting out of the wall or walls moving, everything was well. A single stone door lay in front of him, with a brick not in place. To the right and left him, were blocks that would fit into place; but, which one would fit? They were the same size and shape, but different in color. The left colored blue with the words 'water' engraved in it and the right colored gold and much more extravagant than the basic blue stone, withholding words that read treasure.

Once again, words appeared in the water that rushed in the depressions in the wall. "I inhabit man and overwhelm them, the point where there are foolish. Though I am everywhere, people yearn for my beauty. This temple is where I reside."

His head bowed, Deemunn trudged along the path to reach teh door. Reading the riddle a sense of comforting memories crushed him. He was suprised by this, it had not expected with the recent, angry, hateful things that invaded his mind. Water. The answer was water. he was sure of it, but the room that he had started from remained clear in his mind, waiting if he should have to risk the new trick to save himself from a trap.

He chose the water block, Lycoris' egg rested between his feet for stability, a free hand touching the hilt of his sword as he fit the block into the puzzle, alert for the slightest movment.
"Water... please be water."
Even with this answer he was sure was correct, death hushed the air as it had during his final battle to survive the sacrifice.
So be it.
Amen. Should I die now, I have lived long enough.
ANd it will simply be release from this damned mask.

Though I wills till fight to the end,a nd I refuse to go quietly.

The door slid into the ground as soon as the block was placed. The room in front of him, was a rather large one. There was on a pathway to a middle with a ring-shape connected to the pathway. What was not stone, was water. THe whole room seemed to be filled with it, pillars rose from the bottom to the top in a graceful manner. In the middle of the ring was great amounts of water rushing up to the floors above, filling the whole temple with its power, it would seem. A faded shadow of the treasure floated in the almost miraculous rushing water.

The room itself was a treasure to behold as well. The stones in the walls and pillars resembled gems, polished to the finest. The water, just as the water upstairs, contained no dirt or grime; it was clear as an crystals found on this or any planet. The color of the room, ivory as white as the perfect clouds.

Blinking he smiled beneath the cloth mask.
"Sterotypical Sparatan?"
The egg hummed as he picked it up as it say shut up before going still agian. He followed the path in silence to the ring, stoping short of the ring to inspect the room for possible traps or triggers, or exits, as 'water water everywhere' did not satisfy his wanting to know the secret of the temple, nor did the gleaming stones.
Beautiful, yes, but he had no need for them. He had learned early after being set out on his own quest for reason of being and finding the mask, greed brought only pain.

He glanced up, then down, eyeing the shadow with his head tilted to one side as he pressed the egg into his abdomen. Curious. Was this a dead end?
Or a trap. He had smelled death, would they meet here in this gleaming room of jewels and precious beauty?

"Hello?" Though he was certian nobody would answer. This ancient place, though it did not appear as such, seemed quite dead in the sense of human life or otherwise.

The water almost seemed to hum with light at the voice, yet did nothing more than that. THe roar of the water did seem to lessen, however. The room at first glance, gave the feeling of death with it's beauty; but, as you would stay in it longer it seemed to give life. If you heard closely enough, a heartbeat could be heart , it was slow but strong.
