"Umm, well....yeah." Caine began. "I dont have much, and what I do have is quite holy, but your free to check it all out."His kindness was strange, almost bitter-sweet, to him. Caine had never been so kind to anyone in his entire lifetime.

"If you have nowhere else..." cutting himself off Caine thought of how to word what needed to be said. But his words resumed without his consent. "My camp is over there." Caine raised his hand slightly, pointing to the delapidated camp. "You know...if you need a place." he finished, regaining what he could of what he originaly wanted to say.

He felt the sun moving into the west as the moments passed. How long had it been since they'd washed ashore? Caine had lost track of the time ages ago.

You are my love,
My hope,
My life,
My light.

I would kill for you,
Die for you.
Stop time for you.

I would give anything to be with you,
And I will always be waiting.
You are my forever,
And you are my always.

Without notice, orange, pink, and purple hues mixed and mingled, dancing endlessly to a waltz only their ears could hear.

All the while, Kaoru continued to sway from time to time, still trying to figure out what the ‘trick’ was to keeping her balance. If there was one, she certainly wasn’t able to find it. Beneath her, her legs wobbled and shook, acting as if some sort of fleshy Jell-O. And yet, she still managed to catch all the words that came to pass, her ears attentive and trained on Caine’s now familiar voice.

“Anything’s fine for now,” she responded, speaking of the clothes which had been offered towards her. She was in no position to be picky or callow about the given selections. Either she could take the holey clothes, or she could remain naked, and shivering, open to any illness that might be floating within the evening airs. “I just… need something, somewhere. Please, just for the night, at the very least.”

It there were a person in the world that could deny the child of room and board, it would have been a miracle. The innocence within her eyes was far too great, far too massive for any pure soul to reject without guilt consuming them.

Don't worry, its no problem at all." Caine began, turning back towards the girl. She stood there, well wobbled, and he began to laugh. "I'm probably not one to be laughing, seeing as how we've just met but-" and he began to laugh slightly. It was an awkward sight, a small pale girl in a cloak two sizes too big, swaying back and forth.

"Come on," he began, still smiling. "It's not far away." He stepped forward slightly, wrapping his left arm around her. "Walkings' easy, once you get the hang of it, just one foot in front of the other." He began walking, slwly at first, step by step. "Balance is hard, just, put your feet on the ground apart a little bit."

As they reached the camp Caine became slightly embarrased. It was literaly a batchelor-pad by the beach. Dishes, vlankets, and clothes were strewn about everywhere. "But like I said," he began, taking his eyes off of the camp, and up to the brightening sstars, and the Sun sitting just above the horizon. "It all gets easier the more you practice.

He walked over to a large bag and pulled the smallest clothes he had, still to big of course, and gave them to her.

"It's the best for now." he said.

It wasn‘t as difficult as she imagined, to walk across the lands, without falling in the process.

Of course, that didn’t necessarily mean it was easy; every few steps, Kaoru found herself stumbling over her own two feet. When not her own feet, then some minor pebble or twig seemed to get in her way, almost as they were plotting her very demise. And yet, with attempted grace, she continued onward, keeping her head held high, her back straightened. There were royal airs about her, or something equally memorizing to the average mind. From her posture to her newfound attitude towards life, it was impossible to miss.

“Thank you,” she managed, only once they were at the site. “For everything, again.” Without protest or question, Kaoru accepted the clothes. There was no hesitation in her movements as she hurried to throw them about her still mostly exposed flesh, desiring nothing more than to cover herself from the chilling winds. Shame and embarrassment were easily forgotten as her bones became frozen themselves, suddenly the winds becoming far too much for her to handle. Thankfully, the icy touches were soon lessened, not by much, but at least enough to dull the chills.

Once finished, Kaoru allowed her eyes to finally roam, meeting those of her savior. He was… interesting. That was one way of putting it, at least. No longer on the brink of frostbite, nor lost within an icy pond, it was much easier for the dearest child to examine him thoroughly. The past attempts, the past tries at doing so had been somewhat successful, but hardly in-depth.

“You’re… what are you?” She didn’t mean offense, though instead, came off as a child, inquiring a simple, innocent question of life. “You’re not human…” she paused, somehow just now realizing there was something other worldly about him. “Not human, not monster…”

"Well," Caine began, half looking at her, half at the lake spread out in front of them. "Soem people consider me both. My mother was a Demon, my father a human....." he trailed off slightly. He'd never truly heard the end of the taunts and threats as a teenager, there was always someone cursing at him, or wishing death upon him. It wasn't an uncommon thing to find a Half-Demon, but people still chose to hate those that filled the world. Caine couldn't stand it, and had the scars to prove it.

"In this world, there aren't just humans and monsters," Caine continued, pulling himself from the memories. "Cross breeds, Demons, and anything else you can imagine populate every corner of this world, probably this whole universe/..." Caine trailed off again, in spite of himself. He'd never truly thought of what lay beyond Syumo. the alien species that lived about the skies.

"Sorry for that bit of a rant, are the clothes decent?" he asked, turning away from the sky and the questions to face her.

As if a puzzled child, Kaoru titled her head to one side.

As much as she wanted to comprehend what was being said, she couldn’t exactly grasp the concept of breeds and races mixing to form new ones. Maybe later… she reasoned, hoping that as time wore on, she’d understand what Caine seemingly grasped without a second thought. For now, however, there were other things to focus on; almost instantly, her attention snapped back to reality.

“They’re fine,” she replied, a smile gracing her lips in the process. Anything he offered would be fine, though; she hardly knew the difference between shabby and exquisite. “Thank you for letting me wear them. I promise, I will find a way to repay you.” It was a bit early to be making promises, but at the same time, she couldn’t just say nothing; he had been far too kind for her for nothing to be offered in exchange. “I’m not too sure when, but, someday…” she added on, not wanting to provide false hopes of near future fortunes.

"Don't worry, " Caine began, laughing slightly to himself. "It's just one of those things that should be done." And it was true, Caine had the feeling that he needed to help her. Help her find who she is, and to understand this world.

"So, are you hungry?" Caine had gone food hunting just hours before he saved her, so he head quite a lot to go around. Berries, fruit, clean water, and many other foods and drinks lay covered by a large tarp behind him.

There were questions Caine wanted desperately to answer. Who was she? She couldn't have just randomly materialized out of nowhere. Could she? The moments went by quickly, the sky almost completely dark now.

As darkness settled upon the site, Kaoru’s innocent orbs looked towards the darkened skies above.

She didn’t need to face her savior to hear what Caine had to say, to ask. A slight, dull ache prodded at her stomach, the mention of food awaking various instincts within her. Suddenly, it was as if a thousand small, barely audible voices were screaming inside of her, begging her, pleading with her to tend to their needs. Had her stomach not screamed the lost, not caused her to wince painfully at the foreign, yet familiar sensation, Kaoru would have moved on, off to care for another necessity the near death experience and amnesia had caused her to neglect.

“Food,” she repeated, a certain sense of familiarity clinging to the lone word. There were no memories of what it looked like, no memories of what it tasted yet. However, at the moment, the ache in her stomach found such lacking memories to be meaningless in any case. “That would be wonderful, truly.” The words came softly, gently as if the child was too afraid to speak above a whisper tone.

Caine stood quickly, turning on his heel to the lumpy tarp behind him. The tarp lifted easily enough, which worried him a bit. It wasn't entirely impossible for people or animals to have noticed the food and stolen some from him, but his worries quickly passed as everything was accounted for.

Jars, sacks, and old blankets held mass amouts of fresh fruit, water, and fish. Caine set about preparing a rather large meal for them, though he ate little. "Cooking's gonna be the easiest part of this day," he said, half joking. The fire was up in just a minute or so, its light illuminating the whole site.

The fish simmered as he layed out some very shaby plates. "They're kind of, well...rocks, but they'll do." Caine said. "I mean, its not that I can't get god plates, it's I just don't have any." he felt slightly embarrased. Caine had never played host, but he knew rocks were'nt the best china; but at least they were clean.

Kaoru watched as if memorized by the process which Caine went about.

Then again, it was her first memorable contact with food, and another person period. It was only natural that some part, if not all, of the encounter should send her into a state of awe. Nonetheless, she remained attentive, analyzing every moment Caine made, and especially every bit of food he began to prep. If anything, though, it was the fire that amazed her the most. Somehow, she could understand how the youth not much older than herself could control something so fierce, so dangerous as he pleased.

“Amazing,” she murmured, as if he were a god himself. The fascination was short lived, though, as Kaoru’s attention was quickly directed to the poor excuse of a plate. Like a newborn seeing something for the first time, she gently reached outward, just far enough to brush the tips of her finger pads against the surface. “It’s fine, really.” Another smile played upon her lips, almost as if the plate itself was enough to make her happy. “I’m just grateful…for everything.”

Caine smiled slightly. It wasn't exactly "amusing" but seeing someone who should be acquainted with the world by now seeing everything with new eyes was, different.

He turned to the fish again, pulling them off of the fire. Caine pulled his hand away quickly, not exactly remembering the food was hot. "Erm.... pretened that never happened." Picking up a plate, and a cloth he attempted to lift the fish again. With more or less success. "Here you go," caine said, handing the plate to her and grabbing the second.

Caine sat down in front of the fire, not paying much attention to anything he was doing. "Question time!" He said with that "Let's start a conversation" tone. "Do you remember anything?" He looked up slightly, judginig what reaction there might be. "Like, anything before you were in the lake?"
