I didn't mean to break it, really!; Uh-oh...

Hava winced as the sound of breaking glass sliced through the already noisy air of the dock area. She opened her eyes to see the now shattered glass of a small port hole in a large boat in front of her. She hadn't meant to break it, just tap it with the medium-sized rock now sitting somewhere inside the boat. Unfortunatly, Hava's air powers weren't that well-controlled, so she could just stare at the window in front of her before slowly backing away. Glancing around at the curious group of little kids younger than her 16 years who were staring at her, Hava gulped and darted away from the boat, auburn hair flying in her wake.

She quickly flattened herself against the helm of the vessel that had brought her family to Shime from their home in Yino. Her parents had mentioned something about business in Henraku, which was where they were heading. She had already lost sight of her two younger brothers and her older sister, Sarah, in favor of trying out something with her power. Hava loved to practice, but the practice didn't seem to be helping much in her case. She let out a quiet sigh, pressing herself closer into the polished surface of the boat, as if wishing she could sink into it.

Why did trouble always seem to follow her? She wasn't a bad kid, really, just clumsy. Hava frowned slightly, hearing loud voices start to erupt from the area she had just ran from, undoubtedly the owner of the boat. She briefly wondered if she had hit anyone with the rock when she lost control of it and cracked a grin at the thought, shoulders shaking up and sown slightly with silent laughter.

Hava's rock had indeed found itself into the path of misfortune. The Bonny Helene, which had come to berth in Kurin the previous evening in order to avoid a rather large and threatening storm system, happened to be the name of the fine ship she'd just punctured with her errant projectile. It was officially registered to a very wealthy and influential Henrakuan family, the Maures. They were well known for the business accumen that had kept their family ludicrously rich for centuries now, and also a little infamous for their reclusive tenancies and rumored 'eccentricities'.

Kivean Maure was the most recent in the long and unbroken line of young Maure prodigies. Although no one really knew the boy's age, due mostly to the fact that personal information regarding the Maure family was difficult in the extreme to obtain, he appeared to be in his late teens. Less then a year ago he'd taken up the family mantle and been given control over operations of several of the smaller businesses, and he'd already begun to make a name for himself. Rumored to be the only male heir left in the line, it didn't look like he'd be disappointing his bloodline.

The yelling the girl had heard was not in fact the boat's owner who indeed had been on the boat at the time of the incident, settling himself in his personal lounge for a spot of tea and a gander through the Money and Stocks section when a medium-sized rock had nearly embedded itself in the back of his head. Instead the racket had come from the small army of uniformed family servants that had descended the gangplank from the Helene on Kivean's order to apprehend the culprit of this wanton vandalism and head-rocking. They rather loudly questioned the group of children that had witnessed the event, who all too gladly gave up Hava's position and guilt under the insistent badgering. One came upon her just as she'd begun to mirthfully laugh to herself, silently he crept behind her, moving almost like a shadow. One hand slipped around the girl's mouth, the other firmly grasping around her waist. A cloud of servants descended upon her, blocking the act that was taking place from casual view. She was lifted clean off her feet, and absconded my the small mob back to the Bonny Helene.

Poor child. No luck at all.

((Mmph...I don't know why I said her name was Anna in the first post, but it's not. It's Hava. Woops...I edited it, but I'm just saying this so you know. So sorry!))

Hava's blue eyes widened considerably as she felt a hand covered her mouth, and she tried to twist around to see her attacker when she was grabbed by the waist too and hauled up off of her feet. She shut her eyes tightly, making muffled sounds against the hand, but the mob of people did nothing. My God...Who's boat was that? she wondered to herself as she went limp in the persons hands, hoping that they might relax somewhat and let her escape. They did nothing of the sort, so Hava was condemned with watching the procession through a death glare that her mother had said could 'melt lesser men'.

Now Hava wasn't very smart, but she knew enough to know that accidentally breaking a window in a very expensive-looking boat, and then being half dragged, half carried into said boat couldn't be very good. Unfortunatly, she couldn't really do anything with her hands twisted behind her back and her legs kicking in midair. She let herself be carried into the boat and let back down on the ground, where she nursed her right ankle by rubbing it with her left, still glaring at the huge horde of people who looked like extremely angry servants. Her arms were still being held by the first, a rather large man, as well as her mouth, even though she was still attempting to talk but only succeeding in muffled sounds.

Hava let her eyes wander over the inside of the boat. It was rather spacy, and looked, like the outside, very expensive. Once again the question she had been wondering on her 'trip' inside struck a chord with her: Who's boat was this?

((Er...Well, I hope I gave you enough to go on. I can post something else if I didn't.))

No answers were particularly forthcoming as the girl was ushered inside the poshly appointed ship. She did hear them, however, receive the order draw up the gangplank before she was led/pushed through a heavy steel door and into the passage that led to the ship's lower decks. With the door closed, one would scarely be able to tell the interior of the Bonny Helene was that of a ship and not one of the Maure's many large mansions across Syumo, except perhaps for the gentle rocking.

Hava's feet had been given back to her, and most of the mob of servants that had surrounded her had dispersed back to their duties. Only two remained... the large man, middle-aged and very stern in appearance, who had grabbed her to begin with along with a younger woman not much taller or older then Hava herself. Neither spoke, nor looked at the auburn-haired girl. They simply led her down several flights of stairs and through the richly carpeted hallways to a rather non-descript wooden door.

The girl, who's brown hair was tied in a neat ponytail and half-hidden under her uniform's black beret and perhaps most strikingly wore a black patch over her left eye, stepped forward to open the door. The inside was not particularly startling... it was somewhat small perhaps, but all it contained was a very nicely carver large oak table, with six plush chairs arranged around it. There was no window, nor anything on the wall besides a large tapestry of a stylized 'M' that hung on the wall directly across from the door, on the other side of the table. The man, who had been standing behind and holding Hava's wrists tightly together, released the girl and pushed her towards door.

"Sit." the girl commanded simply.

((^^ No problem. I made the edits to my post as well. Your post was great, by the way. There's not a lot you can do when you're snatched up by a large mob and carried off.))

((Zweeeee...That's my 'Happy, I just got a complement' sound. Thank you!))

Hava frowned, her mouth twisted to one side of her face as she walked, tripping slightly every now and then from the boat's rocking. She hated boats. She got seasick easily and had been practically dead on her family's trip to Shime in the first place. She surveyed the room she had just been led into, taking note of it's rich interior with a low 'tsk'. Glancing at the woman and frowning even more at the sudden order, Hava was tempted to refuse before she remembered that she was probably well out of her league.

So instead she sat down as directed in one of the plush chairs, wiggling uncomfortably and massaging her sore wrists. Hava wasn't used to this places' whole air of wealth it gave off. Living in Yino, her family owned a medium-sized one floor house, but it was pretty crowded with their family of six. She shifted in her seat more, before opening her mouth to ask loudly, "What's goin' on? What- what do you guys want?" She had been about to say 'What did I do?', before realizing that she had practically thrown a rock through the window. Shifting even more until she was teetering precariously on the edge of the chair and leaning forward on her elbows, Hava stared at the servents grudgingly, as if to say, 'Okay, you caught me, now what?'

The female servant stepped just inside the room, and the door was closed behind her. She folded her arms, looking down at Hava with a look of utter disdain.

"You're here because you did a very stupid thing, gutter-rat." she replied, the tone of her voice and scowl on her face leaving no doubt as to how she felt about the girl's presense. It quite seemed like she wanted to say more, very likely unpleasent things but she bit her tongue and simply looked straight ahead to the large 'M' tapestry. "Be thankful we didn't shoot you where you stood and let the other rats eat you for supper."

The uniform the Maure servants wore consited of a simple, straight black overcoat with read trim and buttons. Black pants, shoes, and gloves along with a black beret emblazoned with a stylized red 'M' similar to the one on the wall. They wore no obvious weapons, but who knew what hid under that overcoat.

Before an uncomfortable silence could settle in the room, the ship lurched slightly accompanied by a more stated rocking. Hava had felt this before, recently. The ship had launched. It was moving. The servant didn't flinch.

Hava's eyes widened with rage, before she leaped out of her seat, slamming her hands down on the table. "You would seriously shoot somone for breaking a stupid window? ACCIDENTALLY? My God, you're master has to be freakin' rich to own a boat this big!" She gestured to the room around them wildly, face growing more flushed by the second. "Surely whoever he is can afford a new windowpane! I mean, come on!" She almost said more when the movement of the boat registered with her. "What-" she choked out, glancing around. It was moving. The ship was moving!

She stared at the wall with the tapestry on it blankly, the floor rocking slowly under her feet. Hava hadn't wanted anything exciting to happen on their trip. Just for her sister to stop flirting with that guy at the souveneir shop, and for her parents to get whatever they had to get done done quickly so they could go back home. Unfortunatly, getting attacked by a group of someone's servants, forced on a ship that was, apparently, going somewhere was not something she had considered.

Hava stared at the giant 'M' in silence before she exploded again. "WHAT THE- You guys are freakin' nuts!" she shouted loudly, fists slamming on the table. "Where're you- what-errgh!" she added wordlessly, turning her vision to the servent, who was still standing stonily. To say that Hava had a quick temper was quite the understatement, really.

The servant held her tongue still all the way through Hava's tantrum, staring straight ahead with her hands held behind her back in an 'at-ease' stance. Apparently the Maure servants weren't given to explaining themselves or their master's motives. For someone with a short temper and a lot of questions, Hava had fallen in with some very bad company.

Despite the girl's loud protests, the ship continued on it's way out of the harbour. No further explanation as to what the ship's master intended to do with the apparently now kid-napped girl was forthcoming. In fact, the servant now refused to respond at all. She stood like a statue stairing straight ahead.

Time passed, and quite frustratingly so. There was no clock to gague exactly how long Hava was forced to sit there, no information and no way to get any. Even if she had managed to incapacitate the other female, there was a high probablility that the large fellow who had manhandled her earlier was still lurking on the other side of the door.

The wracking monotony was broken when a pair soft taps came to the door. The servant spun on her heel immediatly, opening the door and offering the individual behind it a short bow.

"Thank you, Miss Marks. That will be all for now." came a surprisingly pleasant-sounding male voice from outside. Although she hadn't heard the large man speak, it really wouldn't have suited him, to the point that the thought was almost comical. No, this voice belonged to the very handsome young man that stepped into the room after the woman had left. He was fairly tall, his hair short black and ever so slightly touseled, his eyes the same warm green as the tropical seas of the south. His clothing was immaculate but simple; a white shirt, black trousers, and a black-and-red cardigan vest. He smiled at Hava as he stepped up to the opposite side of the table, pulling himself out a chair and sitting down. He set the small bown leather ledger he carried to the table, and folded his hands upon it.

"Sorry to have kept you waiting, Miss. My name is Kivean Maure, and I'm the owner of this vessel. It saddens me that we must meet under these unpleasent circumstances."

After a while Hava had stopped shouting in favor of sulking, and had dropped her head onto the table, hidden by her crossed arms. She was actually half-asleep when she heard faint voices talking, and her natural curiousity forced her to drag her head up and rub her eyes to see who it was. Her first impression of this Kivean Maure was I knew it. She wasn't quite sure what she had known, but the very fact that this man had some whole aura of 'rich-ness', as she put it, confirmed many of her suspicions.

She eyed him as he sat down, letting her head drop to her arms again until only the top of her head and her eyes were showing. Hava had already been kidnapped by this guy, so she wasn't feeling inclined to show him any of the respect his servants did. Instead she was all in favor of bashing his head in with the ledger he was carrying, but felt that it might be overdoing it. When he spoke again she straightened slightly, leaning on her elbows again. "You own this thing?" she asked, slightly disbelieving. Shaking her head, she dispelled the question and barked, "Well, yeah, it saddens me too! I just got kidnapped, you know!" Hava raked her fingers through her now slightly messy hair, glaring at the man with distaste. Stupid rich people...

Kivean didn't seem offended by Hava's reaction to his arrival. A soft smile stayed upon the boy's lips the whole time, even under the scowl she was giving him that would have wilted a lesser man.

"Well, technically it's my family's ship." he replied to her incredulous response. "But it's been given into my care. Unfortunatly you seem to be a little confused as to the specifics of your current situation." He carefully opened the legder, and from inside produced a single sheet of paper. "The timing of your transgression was regrettable. The Helene was just about to launch as you sent that rock hurtling through my lounge's window. I wish we'd have had time to deal with this situation before leaving port, but I'm afraid that I'm on a very tight schedule and had not a moment to spare."

He seemed to be glancing over the document from the ledger as he spoke, following the figures upon it with his finger.

"The fact is, Miss..."

He realized something, stopping to look up to Hava.

"I'm sorry. It just struck me that I don't know your name."

Hava felt blood rushing to her face in a strange mixture of anger and embarrassment as she attempted to shove her face further into her arms. "Hava. Hava Crissi, if you must know," she snapped. "And the whole...rock thing was an accident." The statement caused more shame to flood her and she swallowed reflexively. "I-I don't have the greatest control over my elemental powers, and I was practicing and...it got out of hand."

Promptly after finishing the statement Hava stuffed her face into her arms, scowling down at the patch of table underneath her. What were her parents going to do? Mom will start freakin' out, and Dad will get all over-protective and start beatin' up random stall keepers and shoutin' about stuff, and Sarah will be lost somewhere, and so will Doron and Eli, or they'll be botherin' Mom... She resisted the urge to sigh as she glanced back up at Kivean, slightly dreading whatever he had to say next. 'Cuz Lord knows it can't be good...

"Hava." he echoed lightly. "Hm. I don't think I've ever heard that name before. Pretty, though. I wonder where it originates?" It was more a statement then a question, really, and he seemed fully prepared to let his mind wander off to consider the matter before he caught her eyes again and floated back to the moment.

"Ah, yes, but that's neither here nor there, is it? Well Miss Crissi the fact is simply that your actions, however accidential in nature they may have been, resulted in damage to this ship. As the representitive of the Maure family on board, it's my job to make sure that you settle your debt before we part ways. We haven't 'kidnapped' you, you see, you'll be free to go just as soon as this unfortunate buisness is cleared up." He smiled reassuringly at the girl, offering her the document. It was a bill, detailing the estimated cost of repairs to the Helene.

Porthole glass pane - $250
Broken china tea-cup - $15
Copy of the Kurin Weekly Times, Sunday Edition - $1.50

Not too bad. It was adding up slowly, but it was manageable.

Until she hit the final item on the list.

Recompensation for productive time lost - $2,000,000

Total - $2,000,265.50

Kivean tilted his head a little, still smiling pleasently.

"Will that be cash or cheque, Miss Crissi?"

Hava rolled her eyes at the comment about her name and straightened up slightly, running her fingers through her hair again in a vain attempt to make it look decent. She bit her lip as she accepted the bill, holding it tighter than neccesary as she scanned the list of prices warily. She winced slightly when she hit the first item, but shrugged it off on the next two. The last one was the one that made her already-paling face flare up in a violent shade of crimson. "Recompensation-the hell, Maure!" she exploded, sending the chair she was sitting on scooting backwards as she stood up rapidly, waving the bill around. "'Time lost'? How can you-what did I-errgh!"

Abandoning comprehendable language for the moment, Hava continued to rant wordlessly, the paper coming in close danger of being shredded in her hands. She calmed down slightly after a good five minutes of this and sat back down in the chair hard. Of course, her version of 'calm' at the moment was muttering under her breath in a language all her own while staring blankly at the table. After another few minutes of this Hava only had one thing to say. "And how the hell am I supposed to pay for this?"

Kivean watched quietly as Hava's tantrum whirled around the room like a tornado in a bottle. At one point he did slip a rather elaborate gold pocket watch from a pocket in his vest, checked it, and replaced before looking back to the girl to await the return of her senses. After she rather violently seated herself, he lightly cleared his throat and began to speak.

"Allow me to explain. As I said earlier, your actions caused a slight delay in the launch of my ship. My time is very valuable to Maure Enterprises, and as much as I wish I didn't have to charge you for it, it's company policy."

He seemed fairly genuine in his wish, although firm in his assertion that he had to bow to family protocol.

"As for your method of payment, that's really up to you. I understand that this is a fairly large sum for someone of your means, but I'm confident that together we can work out a mutually satisfactory outcome. A loan from your parents, perhaps?"

Hava stared at him for a rather long time, even after he stopped talking, with a blank expression on her face. Loan from my...My God... She rubbed her eyes roughly, ignoring the present state of her clothes, which was extremely rumpled. "Look, Maure...I don't really know what you're assumin' about my family, but you're obviously wrong about something. I doubt anyone in my family has ever had this...amount of money in one place for years."

She held up a hand before he could speak, her skin turning a slightly frightening shade of white. Hava rarely was so...level-headed. Sure, it happened sometimes, but whenever it did it was usually her family's cue to go and hide somewhere, to wait for her to go back to normal. "I honestly don't know how I'll be able to pay you all that now, if ever. I mean, I guess I...sort of understand about the whole 'wasting time' thing." Kind of, she added to herself, before speaking again. "But...I guess we might be able to work somethin' out, Maure, but I'm really not...comfortable talkin' finances or whatever."

She glanced back at him, grinning weakly. "Y'see, I'm not that smart. That's my little brother, Doron. He's the genius of the family, and if it was him who had knocked a rock through your window," Which he wouldn't, of course. He has Earth powers, she thought wryly. "You would probably have somethin' figured out by now. But it's not, I'm not, so..." Hava shrugged and let her hand fall back down. "Maybe...talk slower? I dunno," she added, "I guess I just don't understand most of what's goin' on. Sorry, but, that's the way I am. So...paying this thing." She leaned back and felt the sudden urge to try to sink into the chair. "Right. This should be fun."
