She started at the smile that spread over his face like moss. She took a few steps back, a little more timid. "Ah - " Oh, no. She didn't have a house in the city - she slept in the forest. She didn't have shoes. She couldn't ask him to come back here. She had no money, no time... A part of her - her mother's part - grinned slyly, inwardly, to hear the suggestion of heading back to an apartment. She forced that part down. His fumbling over the words was cute - endearing. Slowly, she looked down, fighting to think. Think! THINK! She bit her lip, not realizing a hint of fang showed when she did it. It was small enough that he could technically take it for a jagged tooth, but it was still a fang. "Um... C-could you give me th-the address of the place and I'll meet you there?" She had to get shoes. Maybe a jacket. |

Darren froze in his steps. Of course she would rather meet him there. How silly of him to be so eager...that was probably what was scaring her. He smiled, undeterred by this new development. "328 Meadow Lark, I'm number 45 on the second floor." He said with a proud smile. The neighbor hood was respectable and his apartment wasn't second hand and his neighbors weren't insane. As far as his housing arrangements he wasn't doing too bad for himself. "I suppose I will see you, later, then?" He asked, his voice almost jerking from his normal pitch to a higher one at the prospect of leaving. But he didn't want to be clingy. But what if someone else came and stole her away....or if she stood him up-- no. He didn't believe that. She wasn't like that. Or at least she didn't seem like that. He would trust her. She had not given him a single reason not too. She got him un-lost after all. Why would a bad person do that? So, logically, she was not a bad person! "I'll see you there, then." He said with a smile. |

"... Y-yes," she told him softly, wondering what she'd gotten herself into. "Yes, I - I'll see you there." Thinking, she said quickly, "I - uhm - I left some of my things in the forest. So - I'd better go grab them before I forget where they are. See you in -" human time, human time... "-- an ... hour... or-or two." She hesitated, then, remembering the little human interactions she'd seen in the forest, moved forward and kissed his cheek shyly. "S-see you!" She called, and then she turned and ran back into the forest, slowly, to ensure that she didn't frighten him. |

Darren's heart thudded slightly painfully inside his chest cavity once she withdrew her very warm, sweet, perfect, wonderful lips from his cheek. It was most certainly more than he expected. "O-oh-k-kay. One or two hours." He said with a blushing smile. He watched her go before he remembered he had stuff to do. He turned around and headed down the road, his black jeep was just down the next bend, which surprised at how close he was to it, and climbed in the driver's seat, retrieving the keys from the steering wheel, where the horn was supposed to be was just an empty square thing. He started up his pride and joy and pulled a U in the street and sped off towards his home with higher hopes than he perhaps ever did before. |

Nimue sped through the forest, pausing as she heard his engine move away. She wrinkled her nose as the stench of gasoline hit the sensitive appendage, but that wasn't her worst worry. I agreed to spend time with a human. A human male. In a city. She looked around nervously, wondering how to begin. The only options she had left to her were - well, frankly - evil. Looking down, she took a deep breath, then smoothed the dress over her lithe body and went to go find a human store. She managed to keep herself almost hidden for a while in the store as she picked things out that she thought would look good, but she was worried still. Slowly, she approached the counter - and then the man standing behind it looked up, and she could see his nostrils flare, his eyes narrow, as he took in the unique pheromone she emitted, the curves of her form. "Well, well, well." He practically purred the words, and she managed to look cool and relaxed. "How can I help you, sweetheart?" Nimue laid the clothing down on the counter. "Well, here's the problem," she began, voice like silk. "I have all of these things that I really need tonight, but I forgot all my money. I don't suppose you could help me out, could you?" She leaned against the counter. The man glanced down, swallowed, then nodded. "Sure... sure... you're a frequent customer here, I can tell. I'll give you a 100% discount." "Thanks," she beamed, as he clipped tags off of the clothing. She blew him a kiss, then left before he could react. Once outside, she clutched the clothing to her chest with remorse in her heart. I can't believe I just did that... Still... she had a ... what was the word? --- Date, that's right, date. She had a date to go to. In an hour she was standing in front of the apartment Darren had told her about, clad in simple black jeans, boots, a tight-fitting white v-neck shirt, and a red trench coat. She'd pulled her hair back with a strange circle of cloth she'd grabbed on her way out of the store. Slowly, she raised her hand and pushed the buzzer. |

The hot water felt so nice against his skin, and so did the sting of toothpaste in the back of his throat. The clothes for his date consisted of new dark blue jeans, black button up shirt, and his trusty studded belt and chucks. He dried off his hair with the towel sitting on his sink and he ruffed his hair as he dropped the towel on the floor. He walked bare-skinned across his apartment to his bedroom and started to pull on his clothes, feeling anxious already. After he was dressed and laced up his shoes he walked into the kitchen for his wallet. He had enough bills and change for a meal for two, so he didn't need to run to the ATM. He put his wallet in his pocket, connecting the chain that hung from it to his belt he walked into the bathroom, looking at himself in the mirror. His chin was slightly irritated because of his hasty shaving job, but at least he didn't cut himself. His dark eyes looked extremely anxious and his hair was still pretty wet when the buzzer sounded. He nearly jumped into the air in surprise, even though he was waiting for it. He let out a shaky breath, he walked across his apartment again. He pressed the button and spoke clearly into the speaker. "Hello?" He asked with a smile. Normally he could tell who was buzzing for him by the camera over the door, but it was busted and the Land Lord hadn't replaced it yet. |

"D-Darren? It's... it's Nimue..." She looked around cautiously, a little uneasy with the voice coming out of nowhere. She never got used to it... The coat hung over her shoulders limply; she straightened it somewhat nervously and pulled up the jeans, wondering how humans could bear to wear these things called clothes. She never really felt the dress - it was never really there. "Am I early...?" She wanted to know, taking a step or two to test if her feet clicked. The only sound was leather on tile. Good. |

His heart did another weird thing when her voice came over the speaker, even crackled and over enunciated it was extremely pleasant to listen too. "No, no. Right on time. I'll be down in a moment." He said with a smile, grabbing his keys from the ring next to the door he locked the dead bolt then flipped the light switch off that triggered the lamps around his apartment to go off. He pulled the door shut behind him and jogged down the stairs, an enormous grin on his face. He composed himself on the other side of the door before he pushed it open. His eyes appraised her new clothes before he gave them permission to move, she was just so gorgeous. "You look beautiful." He said, a little breathless. |

She flushed lightly. "Thanks." Inwardly, the part of her that was kumiho screamed in rage that she was not already in his lap, that she hadn't seduced him yet. She ignored it - with difficulty, but she did it anyway. "You look very nice, too," she offered, brushing her hair out of her eyes. Maybe she could have a normal interaction - something that made her feel human...? She almost wanted to be human. She was tired of hating her own body. |

“...not as good as you.” Darren said as more of an afterthought than a reply, but he blinked his comment away, “Shall we then?” He asked, offering out his arm like he had been raised to do. “It's only two blocks, we can walk, unless you want to ride in a cab?” He asked, but since he met her in the forest, he didn't think she would exactly mind walking just a quarter of a mile. |

"Oh..." She blushed. Slowly, hesitantly, she accepted his arm. To feel the heat of his arm was a surprise, as her skin was not quite so warm. It was cool with what her mother had called 'grace, elegance, and seduction. A kumiho does not find her prey with heat." Nimue struggled to banish those words from her mind. What's a cab? she wondered softly. Was it that 'taxicab' thing humans talked about? "I don't mind walking," she offered, softly. |

“Alright.” Darren said, smiling to himself at her closeness. “Then let's go.” He said with a smile, leading her down the street of the block, turning left on the corner and then walking up the two blocks. The diner was there on the corner. From the outside he could see that it was pretty much empty, and that Jerry was on busting duty, his friend the owner's son. Jerry looked up from the table he was cleaning and glanced down the street, seeing Darren. He waved, but then his eyes were round with surprise, looking at the girl on his side. His jaw was about to drop open but somebody must have called his name because he reluctantly walked off. Darren blushed a little bit, and when they reached the door he held it open for her. “After you.” He said politely. |

She followed him obediently, trying to keep away from any other humans in case of - well - common reactions to Kumihos. The walk went by quickly, thank goodness, and she carefully eyed the diner they were approaching. Oh, thank goodness, she thought as they reached it. There aren't too many humans - and there aren't that many males. She smiled at her courteous human companion as he held the door open for her. "Thank you," she told him softly, unaware that her voice was a purr. She stepped into the diner, looking around curiously, and prayed there weren't too many other men in the restaurant. |

Darren needed a moment to remember how to walk, and breath after Nimue had walked in. Just that one word had left him completely...enchanted. He shook his head a bit once and walked in a few steps behind her. He glanced around, his eyes looking towards the more empty section of the restaurant. He gently touched her arm and nodded his head towards one of the farther booths. "How about over there?" He asked with a small smile. |

She flushed lightly as he touched her arm, and nodded silently. The further away from other people, the better. So she followed him to the farther booth and obediently sat across from him, studying him. He was so interesting. The color of his skin, the way his hair looked, the way he smelled. How warm he was. He fascinated her - and frightened her. She did not want to scare him away. What now? She watched him surreptitiously, unsure of what to do. |
