Doesn't RP.

It was her off day, it wasn’t remarkable but it was surprising that Nessa would even allow an off day into her schedule, her routine so rigid that she rarely strayed from it. But, she had been forced, her boss saying she was at work too much. Saying she had needed a break more than anyone but she had been miffed at the mention of needing a break, she didn’t, not by a long shot. She was proving herself to her family, to her own self, to her friends, to anyone who didn’t believe her capable of following her own dreams. But the thought just made her walk faster down the sidewalks, trying to find somewhere to sit down and eat, her stomach was upset that she had not taken in a proper meal before heading out. She wanted to ignore it but she felt her stomach become demanding and she heard the noises that quietly rumbled out of the small space and decided to follow it despite the disdain of eating where everyone could watch her. At work she ate in the worker’s area, not everyone could watch her in there, just a few people who knew her and some people who wouldn’t stare at her, they had heard of her need for some privacy and had left her alone, just as she wanted. Her nose wrinkled at every food place, coffee shop and grocery store along the way. One was too dirty to enter, another too packed full of people and one smelled so strongly she could smell it through the building. Her senses were heightened, she knew, but that had turned her away before even checking it. “How do people like these places?” she thought before turning to find another place. It was quieter, yes, but also seemed to be clean enough and empty enough for at least an indoor check. The lighting inside was calm, muted and allowed her to look around without being obvious to the others that she was entering for the first time. It was a coffee shop, easy enough to get a muffin, a frap and sit somewhere in a dark corner where no one would bother her. Her decision made, she made it to the counter and ordered, briefly, her specifics in drink, the muffin and paid without a second glance at the woman who prepared it before settling herself in a chair to relax… That was what the others had called it, no? So she reclined, relaxed (she guessed that was what she was doing, she couldn’t be sure) and ate her muffin in her normal rate, her eyes flicking around the room a bit in examining the other customers that she tolerated despite finding flaws here and there in how the ate letting crumbs take over their shirts and laps or how they talked to each other without a second thought to the table next to them loudly and sometimes crudely. But, she approved the place as much as a little rich girl who had been groomed to be perfect in many ways could. She enjoyed the easy atmosphere and the people to comfort and hide her latent fears of being alone in the world. She had had to abandon her society once, she’d be damned if it were to happen again, she never again wanted to be pressured to leave a place or be changed into something she wasn’t. The food and drink went quickly into her system as she finished eating and left the dim but oddly comforting place back into the city again. Wishing she was at work again, she walked on the sidewalks, the day was boring and her routine broken which left her stiff and quietly angry, something the Ice in her let be shown in subtle ways. If it had been winter… no one would have wanted to walk on the same sidewalk as her. She had only gone home to sleep and wash the previous night and woke up the next day wanting to be anywhere but stuck at home with nothing to do since her apartment was pristine and it was too much like when she was younger, trapped in the walls of a home she didn’t like, and looking out windows to watch others pass every so often. No, she wouldn’t have that, walking around the city was her only choice. But it was getting dark, it was time to go home and make sure she got plenty of rest for the next day, but she wanted out just a little longer, finally feeling that sense of freedom she had thought she gained when leaving while only trapping herself into more than one building. So she walked in the dark, quiet, pensive and oddly happy, though she had no smile to prove it. ((Intro for Nessa and hopefully something for Cic to reply to, just let me know if you need more. |

Juliek scowled at the pavement as he moved quietly along the street, his pale skin illumned by the distant streetlights. His shoes counted a familiar time across the cement-- one, two, one, two-- their scuffed toes looking bloody in the darkness. His black shirt fluttered slightly with the breeze of his passage, but Juliek ignored it, his icy eyes fixed carefully downward. His hands, gloved and in his pockets, felt as if they were on fire in the warm night air, but he knew better than to remove the protective yarn of the fifty-cent hand warmers... protective yarn. He smirked a little. Shaking his head, his black hair, so carefully combed down, flew into a mess, its brown-faded ends showing even worse in the yellow streetlight. Damn. It would never stay put! He turned, still walking, to catch his reflection in a store window, before-- "Ow!" Juliek spoke more out of surprise than pain. He lifted a hand to his forhead, then to the girl he'd unexpectedly walked into. "I'm sorry, I--" his teeth glinted in the light. Juliek shut his mouth, dropped his hand. She'd probably think he was a rude prick for not apologizing, but he wouldn't risk his secret for the pride of a girl who, at second glance, looked like just another rich, patronizing snot. He pulled his gloves a little higher, kicked the ground, licked his lips. She smelled fantastic. Most people did. His mouth was watering. Wincing, Juliek spun on his heel, turned back to the girl. He couldn't just leave her there, however much he'd like to. She could have hit her head. She could be bleeding--no, she wasn't bleeding. He'd know if she was. His pale eyes were darker now, and a sense of forboding filled his head. But the gloves were on, and it was dark... and he couldn't leave her. Juliek extended a hand, but turned so she couldn't see his face. "Sorry," he mumbled. "Didn't see you." |

Nessa felt a crack against her forehead, tears well and disappear and pain in the span of seconds. She wasn’t really hurt, she thought after she had gingerly examined her forehead and back with her fingers. “Just bruises.” She concluded in a whisper before throwing her glance up through her eyelashes at the man who had knocked her over. The half ice demon pulled herself up as gracefully as one trained would as she took his hand before immediately releasing it and absently dusted herself off. Words were pressing against her lips and annoyance was apparent on her face, but she said and did nothing other than stand and wait for a proper apology. His half attempt made her laugh, “Someone was too preoccupied with their hair that looks fine as is.” The ice bit into her tone but it was contradicted by the slight shake of her head. He wasn’t facing her and that was fine with her. She didn’t need to see his face again to hear him apologize, “But, one should give a full apology if one wants to be forgiven.” The tone still had the ice but it wasn’t biting and it was cool instead of freezing. Curious but most definitely not going to push she stood and waited as patiently as she usually was with her patients. “But, if you would please hurry this up? It’s late, I work tomorrow and, though I do love this freedom, I need to go to bed and my home is a few blocks away.” There was a note of teasing in her voice, attempting to provoke a glance of some sort so it was truly proper. She wasn’t snobby so much as demanding and queen-like in her manner, hands settled at her sides, head angled just so and eyes lit with just enough power to seem more powerful than she truly was. And so she stood until he would look her in the eye and apologize properly, gentlemanly. |

"An apology? And why should you expect one, your majesty? It was as much your fault as mine, and if you're in such a hurry to get on with your wonderful silk-padded life, I'd suggest letting it go." The words sprang unbidden to his lips, and he scowled. But she'd started it, hadn't she? He hadn't been rude, just quiet. And she spoke like a rich man's daughter, a pompous ass. He owed her nothing. Standing fully straight, Juliek was half surprised to realize he had a few inches on the girl; she carried herself in a manner that made her appear much larger than her small frame actually was. He glanced down at his faded black shirt half embarrassed of its ragged state, half proud that he wasn't putting on false airs. He blinked slowly, and breathed the cool night air in deep to calm his nerves. "So if you'd like to apologize, I'll just be on my way." |

Majesty, silk-padded, the amused smirk met her lips as if it was naturally supposed to be there, "Assuming much, aren't you?" But she moved on before he could answer her, "I wasn't the one who looked at myself in a window." And then she shook her head, "I guess we should drop it, I need to get back to my apartment before it gets too late." Her hair wrapped around her as she turned back to where she was heading, looking like snow glittering down around her. Then her formal upbringing kicked in, she turned and dipped her head, "Thank you for helping me up, sir." She wouldn't curtsie because she hated the act of overtly being graceful to show off in a subtle way. She had no one to show off to, not anymore and she didn't need to show off anyway. "Good night." Another dip of her head, her smirk still in place she gave an artful wave and returned to her journey. The strictness of her behavior broken by the freedom she was finally feeling after so long of feeling trapped by her family, her need to work, freedom to be out. But she did not want another day off, routines were meant to be kept and being free just wasn't part of that routine. How sad, she would love to have a taste of it again. Even if she had to run into another intriguing but assuming men, it was... nice. |
