Just to let you all know, today is World AIDS Day. No, it is not the day on which we try to get AIDS, nor the day on which we celebrate the existence of AIDS. It is the day on which we celebrate the survivors of AIDS, the advancement of AIDS treatment and prevention, and we recognize what we can do to help the worldwide AIDS epidemic. Yes, kiddies, it is an epidemic, and yes it affects everyone. Not just starving children in Africa. Not just the homo down the street. It's a real problem. You may say to yourself, 'Why should I care? Only stupid people get AIDS from unprotected gay sex and sharing needles- and I'm not a fag and I'm not a druggie.' But straight people share HIV too. You can also contract HIV through blood transfusions, because although they screen blood, not all blood is screened, and sometimes the tests are wrong. You can receive HIV through contamination of wounds, open sores, hospital wounds- etc. It sounds weird, but there are a bajillion ways to get HIV. It is a real issue facing society today and it is imperative that we care. So I am asking you, person to person, you know, as a human being- to use what time is left in your day today to reach out to someone and show them that you care. Maybe just by taking the time to educate them about HIV and AIDS, maybe by making a donation to an organization working to prevent AIDS- whatever. I don't care. Just do something. Please. And thank you. My step today, if you were wondering, was that I donated to an organization, and I would like to share with you all ways to help prevent spreading HIV. GIRLS: if you have had sex, when you are on your period, make sure your used tampons and pads are completely and properly disposed off, and that you leave no blood on the toilet seat. HIV is spread through blood. If you do use hypodermic needles for anything, try to immediately dispose of them in a sharpies container (one of those brite orange one way canisters with the radio-active or dangerous symbols on them), or seal them in a plastic bag to throw away later. Do not share- again, blood is how HIV is transmitted. Don't reuse condoms, and if you think a condom broke, use a douche. Stay safe and have fun, kiddies. =) Much love, -HunNat j00r disobedient werrm Official World AIDS Day Website: www.worldaidsday.org
