Ever since Professor Emil Hamilton discovered the meta-gene a few years ago, it appears that the men and women once known as mystery men, super heroes and super villains, though I suppose the politically correct term would be meta-humans now, have begun to appear at an increasing rate.
Heroes and villains have appeared, fighting amongst each other, some to protect and serve, others simply to further their own greed.
The old heroes of the Justice Society and their virtues seemingly all but forgotten, many of these heroes have taken to increasingly violent methods, some appearing as grim and menacing as the villains that they claim to fight. Take for instance the rumours of the Bat-Man of Gotham City, a quickly spreading urban legend of a bat-like figure spreading terror in the underworld. A being so dark and haunted that he keeps his existence a secret, so that he can wage his own personal war on crime, if he even exists.
All of that appears to have changed now. A super hero have appeared, unlike anyone else we have seen before. Yes. I used the hero word. Because that is what this man seems to be. Since his appearance, he has saved countless lives, throwing himself in danger's way at every opportunity to save another. He is polite. He is heroic. And apparantly, he is bullet proof.
Now, Metropolis can relax and sleep tight, knowing that they are under the protection of Superman.
We can only hope that he heralds the coming of real heroes.
