Personal Info

Name: John Cannon / Cei Yu
Alias: Johnny, Thunderbolt, Peter Denham
Race: Human/Spirit
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Height: 5’11”/7’7”
Weight: 151 lbs./214 lbs.
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue/Red
Appearance: John is clean cut when he's in normal wear, usually wearing some sort of "suit" befitting what he thinks of as a teacher. Rarely wears just "jeans and a t-shirt." Keeps his blonde hair short to medium in length, and has kind blue eyes. When as the "Thunderbolt" but not transformed, he wears a black suit that is most red on the right side. He also wears a black domino mask with lens that are opaque from the outside, and a belt with gold colored trimming, along with a pair of white shoes that are clasped onto his uniform thanks to a pair of golden ankle clasps. When he turns into the avatar of Cei Yu, he is a giant man who may have legs or just lightning like energy where his legs should be, energy rippling across his muscles. In this form, he is an being comprised of reddish energy.
Alignment: Neutral Good (John) / Chaotic Neutral (Cei Yu)
Personality: As John Cannon, he’s a kind, trusting man who seems more than willing to help out. He certainly means well, though he’s a bit TOO willing to jump into adventure. As Cei Yu, he’s smarter, but far more discerning and suspicious.
Team: None
Secret Origin: Magically Powered (Spirit Magic)

Powers

Will Based Transformation: Johnny, by simply uttering Cei Yu’s name with the intent of calling upon him, transforms into a being of great power.

Super Intelligence 7: Cei Yu’s mental capabilities are far superior to that of Johnny, and practically infinite, as he is connected to his non-corporeal consciousness. 135 XP/lv
Flight 9: Cei Yu is able to propel himself through the air at great speeds, manipulating himself and reality around him to do so. 180 XP/lv
Enhanced Healing Factor 3: Still in a more or less human avatar, Cei Yu can still be injured. However, while in this form, he heals from most wounds in minutes, and nearly fatal ones in hours. 360 XP/lv
Powered Enhanced Cognition Speed: Again, linked to his non-corporeal consciousness, Cei Yu’s mind vastly exceeds the biological construct of Johnny’s own. 720 XP
Self-Contained Lifeform (All Options): Cei Yu does not need to eat, breathe, or sleep, as he is of pure energy. Likewise, he is not affected by the environment around him, equally at home in the desert, ocean, arctic, or outer space as he would be in a meadow. 720 XP

Skills
IQ 3: Johnny isn’t dumb… but he’s not a genius either. 300 XP
High School Graduate: Johnny has the equivalent of a High School education thanks to the Tibetan monks and Cei Yu’s own knowledge. 150 XP
Concentration: In the monastery he was taught how to focus and meditate. He never really took to the meditation, but if he puts his mind to something, he can focus on it and nothing else. 200 XP
Fighting Skills 3: He knows how to fight, having learned some martial arts at the Monastery. 200 XP/lv
Academic Skills (Chinese History) 3: He knows more about Chinese history than a normal guy does, again, thanks to his time in the monastery. 75 XP/lv
Arcane Knowledge 4: Between the Badhnesians and the Monks, Johnny has done his best to understand his powers and the natures of the world outside of time and space. He only knows so much, granted, but his knowledge does increase when Cei Yu takes over. 100 XP/lv

Challenges
Psychological (Poor Memory): Though Johnny doesn’t know it, Alzheimer’s is common in his family. Though he’s still too young for that in partiuclar to have affected him, he does have poor memory. Cei Yu makes up for it a little, but… when it’s just Johnny? Not so much. 250 XP

Major Haunted Past: Johnny has had a hard life. He was kidnapped from London not moments after he was born, and brought to the island nation of Badhnesia. There he stayed for several years, until his seventh birthday when he underwent the painful “Rite of Cei Yu.” Shortly after, the Chinese government took over the island, and he was raised under the Chinese government, experimented on scientifically, until he finally escaped to the Tibetan mountains, where he lived with monks. After being brought back to health and taught of his abilities, Johnny made his way to America... 600 XP

Medium Deadly Enemies: Johnny has made a few enemies. Badhnesia rebels still wish to claim him and “use him” in an attempt to take back Badhnesia, and then take over the world, while the Chinese Government considers him a threat to international security, considering him a “Terrorist Super-Soldier of Unknown Origin,” and has put out bounties for his capture... or, for less money, his death. 400 XP

Conflicting Interests: Johnny is a confused young man with little sense of identity. He doesn’t know it, but he’s British by birth. He was raised by the power hungry Badhnesians as a weapon, and then under the Chinese, then Tibetan monks. Not to mention Cei Yu in the back of his mind… and his own conflict in just wanting to live a normal life, but also wanting to use his powers for good… and excitement. 350 XP

Guilty Conscience: He feels bad that he can’t do more with his powers, and that Cei Yu is essentially bonded to him. Although it’s not his fault, he feels as if he has trapped Cei Yu, and enslaved him. 300 XP

Origin

There’s a blonde haired young man who occasionally subs at schools around Keystone City. He’s relatively timid, but kind. He tends to do better in the humanities, though he’ll sub for anyone.
And yet, sometimes, the schools can’t reach him for weeks at a time. No one knows where “Peter Denham” runs off too.
But he’s a lie. There’s no such person as Peter Denham. There’s only Johnny Cannon, the Thunderbolt. And his story is not an easy one.

Unknown to John, he’s the seventh son of a seventh son, born at 7 AM on July 7th in 1987. Not long after his birth, a group of men from the South Asian Island nation of Badhnesia kidnapped him from his London maternity ward, and whisked him away. They had been looking for just such a child, a child who met such criteria. An ancient prophecy foretold of such a child, one of “white” stock, would be the one to become Badhnesia’s weapon to help them claim their place as the rulers of the world.
For seven years he was raised in the abysmal conditions of a Badhnesia interment camp. He was given enough to survive, and frequently told that he was no longer ‘John Cannon of the White Men,’ but simply the weapon of Badhnesia. On his seventh birthday, he underwent the ritual of Cei Yu, involving being prodded with long needles, exposed to various hallucinogenic compounds, and his blood let. This continued for seven day until he was seemingly struck by lightning… Cei Yu had become part of the boy.
Before the ritual could be completed, however, the Chinese government had finally moved on Badhnesia, and ended up taking the boy in. Recognizing him as a powerful being, they began to experiment on him, taking samples, and keeping him in conditions only slightly better than that of Badhnesia.
In 2001, he was finally able to escape, summoning Cei Yu inadvertently. However, he was weak and lost. He would eventually come across a Tibetan monastery where he would stay another seven years. During these years he trained, focusing his mind and body, and learning not just of Chinese History, but how to focus, and how to channel Cei Yu, even without letting him have complete control.
Knowing only his name of “John Cannon,” he realized the Chinese would be looking for him should he ever leave, but wanderlust got the better of him. He finally took off for the United States under the false identity of Peter Denham, and moved to Keystone City… and reading of people, superheroes, he realizes perhaps that is what he could do…

Taking the name of “Thunderbolt,” Johnny calls upon the powers of Cei Yu to help fight against the criminal element, not just in Keystone City, but the world over… and occasionally uses his powers to simply adventure.

Notes -
Jon has rated both Haunted Past and Deadly Enemies. Also, I know his Arcane Knowledge is at 4 while his IQ is at 3. For any of his knowledge skills over three, they only apply when in his transformed state, thanks to his "Super Intelligence" power.
Oh, and will be spending $6,000 from The Riddler's profile to pay for him.
