As Nedox approached the shore of the island on his tiny rowboat, he recognized the place as a pirate cove of some description. With this in mind, he quickly took note that this place was home to many pirates, and because of that, he just might find the man he was looking for here.

As he arrived on the shore he quickly hopped off the boat and glanced around. on the shore he arrived at there really weren't many people, but further down the shoreline he saw some docks full of life and activity. He sighed and headed in that direction, looking to take a job for some quick money.

There had been better days, all told. There had been better jobs, too. Well, the job itself had been pretty simple and the pay would've been good if someone hadn't tried to shoot her down and taken the paycheck for themselves, due to the fact that she had never seen the client and all he knew was that the job was done, not who in particular he was paying. All of that was somewhat beside the point, though. The current situation more involved the guy that had tried to take her paycheck was now chasing her down trying to take it by force. And that meant that, just as Nedox was getting off the dock a large white dog wearing the remains of a cocktail dress jumped over him and ducked under the bench of his boat while the fellow chasing her continued on.

"Hello there."

Just as Nedox had started to head for the pirates, a wolf jumped over him, startling him and causing him to stumble and just barely catch himself from faceplanting in the sand. As he quickly gathered his composure the man pursuing this wolf had ran past, but Nedox didn't pay him any heed. He quickly turned and drew his sword, pointing it at the wolf...? as he saw the remains of the dress he hesitated... and even more so when it spoke.

He blinked his eyes and tilted his head in slight confusion. "H... Hello...? So you're... you've eaten a zoan fruit... correct?" he said, with some hesitation.

[size0]"I damn well hope so or else I've completely lost my mind..."

He slowly lowered his sword and bent down just a bit to pat the dog on the head with his off hand, just in case he really was just losing his mind.

"Indeed. I am Paathar Atma, but if that's hard to pronounce you can call me Stoneheart. Most people do." She glanced herself over quickly and gave the dress up as a lost cause. That tended to happen when she needed to transform, to say nothing of the people continually shooting at her and all that. However, she did relent to a little ear scratching with a smirk.

"Well then, you seem rather more polite than most people here. What're you in town for?" She wasn't wild about hanging around with someone new, but he looked like he could handle himself in a fight and she could use someone with a little muscle with the situation she was still in.

Nedox glanced around as if he was still unsure of himself. "Uh huh... well, uhh... Stoneheart, you said? I'm in town because I need some belli. Figured doing some odd jobs for pirates would get me some, and I don't really mind getting my hands dirty. Plus, I might find out more about the man I'm looking for here......" he trailed off.

"Bit odd talking to a dog though... have I not had a meal in such a long time that I'm hallucinating?" he spoke aloud, although it seemed more like he was talking to himself in this instance...

He sheathed his sword and glanced back behind him once more before crouching slightly to speak more face to face. "Well... I thought I would ask that group of pirates over there where the best place to look for an odd job or two was, but... would you happen to know any better places?"

Atma nodded and slid out of what was left of her dress, shaking her fur out and climbing onto the dock next to him. She was going to need to get some new clothes in the near future.

"I know a few guys, if I've got someone a bit more physical with me they might pitch us something good. Keep in mind we're splitting the bill down the middle for this, got it?" She started walking without waiting for an answer, taking him into an alley a few yards away.

"Try to keep up. Not the most forgiving neighborhood, and I'd rather not attract too much attention right now."

Nedox turned his head to look back over at the group of pirates that were having a conversation on the docks. One of them stared him down as he followed Stoneheart. He felt, actually, quite foolish for trusting a talking dog over his own instincts, but now that he was in this far, he knew there was no turning back.

He made sure to keep pace with her, hand on the hilt of his sword just in case anyone got any ideas, but other than following her, he didn't respond to Stoneheart at all just yet.

After a few turns into the darker parts of the cove, Atma led him into a nondescript building that looked just as run-down as any around them. She went up to the top floor, which was slightly above the rest of the area and offered a commanding view of the entire harbor without being obvious about it. Unlike the rundown conditions of the lower floors, the top was styled in a very function-over-form way, but still looked lived in, as evidenced by the man leaning back as he looked out over the harbor.

"This is unusual for you. Just letting two locked doors protect you instead of your usual boys? I missed pushing past them on my way in. You said you have a job for me if I could find someone to watch my back, and I've got an...Associate that might fit the bill."

Nedox followed close and was careful to take note of what turns they were taking in case he needed to make a quick escape. He began to doubt his decision to trust this strange talking dog more and more by the minute.

as they reached the top of the building he was gripping the hilt of his sword tightly, and giving the man in the room an intense look.

"Unusual perhaps, but there's a reason for that. You've arrived at just the right time, Stoneheart, and... ah... Who is this guy? He looks like he's about to chop someone's head clean off... Well, tough guy. Lookin' to make some money? I can get you a solid 20,000 belli if you can bring me the head of a man named Enwar Quess? He's the leader of a particular group of pirates that have been givin' me trouble for a while now. Find him, and get rid of him."

"Got a file on him? Gonna be pretty hard to knock him down if 'pirate captain' is the best description we have. Not to mention, he might be able to get up to something if we're still busy figuring out where to stab him without pissing off everyone and their mum." She was leaving aside the matter of the money for the time being; twenty grand was pocket change, but after her last job she had enough to live on. This was really just to keep her on task and keep her new partner occupied long enough to not get killed on spec.

"He's got black hair and a very distinctive scar going over the bridge of his nose. All I need you to do is take him out. The guard should be li- Hey where are you going!?"

Nedox had given a soft grunt and turned to walk back out the door. "I ain't killin' someone over chump change. I need some real money, not this shit," he remarked.

"OK OK! How about this! You bring me back proof you've taken care of him and I'll pay you both quadriple what I just offered!"

Nedox stopped and clenched his fist in aggrivation. He looked over his shoulder to speak. "Fine. I'll accept, but his guard better be as light as you say it is, or it's your head I'll be after next," he said in a dark tone, before continuing his exit of the building.

Stoneheart listened, committing the description to memory, but was shocked out of it when Nedox decided it wasn't worth his time. Not that she could disagree, but as already stated the money was of secondary importance. Of course, all of this raised some other interesting questions for the good underworld broker when he wasn't offering them a job.

"A hundred thousand for one Enwar Quess. You'll have his head soon enough, my good friend. And try not to be insulted, he's a likeable enough fellow." She turned and followed him down the stairs, catching up as they reached the ground floor.

"Right. First off, we need to get me some actual clothes, and then we can start looking for this guy. I'm a bit of a known player in the area, but you look new enough you might be able to get in with some of his crew. I'll be behind you to take his head soon as we can." She turned into one of the few shops aimed at women outside a few certain professions and shifted back to human form, looking between the racks.

"Now, what looks good?"

As Stoneheart caught up to him and told him that she needs some actual clothes he then stopped in his track for a half a second, as if he needed to take time to register that she wasn't just a talking dog. "Waaiiit... what do ya mean you need.... clothes...?" he said, just before they reached the shop.

When Stoneheart shifted back into a woman, Nedox's first reaction was to just be suprised by it... and then his second reaction was to realize she had no clothes ON. His cheeks turning red, he quickly pushed her behind a row of dresses. "Y-Y-You can't just let people see you like that! Hold on, I'll go grab something!"

He darted around grabbing the first things he could find and held them out to her from the other side of the dresses.

Of course he would be like that. Most men would kill for a view like he got, and naturally he pushed her out of view first thing he got. Why do all the interesting pirates have to be gay? Either way, Stone started going through things as he passed them to her.

"Too tight, will never last a single change, not enough movement, not my size... Yeah, I guess this'll do for now." She pulled on what turned out to be a skirt that barely reached her knees and leaned over the racks to watch him go at it.

"See if you can find something pretty lightweight; I don't want to get caught if I have to change quickly."

Nedox continued to scramble around, looking for something lighter for her to wear. he gathered a few things, not entirely sure of himself, when the shopkeeper said, "sir, what are you doing?" and began approaching him. He panicked and quickly hid whatever he had gathered so far behind his back, and back up slowly towards where Stoneheart had been. "A-Ah... I'm uhhh... Just looking.... for... for some clothes for my, ah... girlfriend!" he said, trying to pass off the clothes to her from behind his back.
